Airdeny is perfect as a base for exploring the hills, woodlands and coastlines of Argyll, it is quiet and rural, yet conveniently close to the A85 for easy access to Argyll attractions. It’s ideal for walkers and cyclists, sitting on the rural lane network forming part of the National Cycle Route 78 which also leads to the stunning Glen Lonan to the East, Kilmore and Loch Nell to the South and Connel to the North and also stretches all the way from Oban to Fort William. Loch Etive and Loch Awe are less than 10 minutes away and offer great opportunities for fishing. Taynuilt village centre is about a 1 mile’s walk and offers a general store, post office, butchers, hairdressers, café, craft shop and a railway station, a 9-hole golf course and sports ground. There’s loads to explore with two rocky beaches at Airds Bay and Kelly’s Pier which enjoy fantastic views of Loch Etive, an ancient iron furnace and you’re close to the beautiful inland Loch Awe, which offers fishing, boating and fantastic forestry walks through nearby Glen Nant or Fearnach.
Oban, a busy west coast town, commonly known as the Gateway to the Isles, can be reached in just 12 miles’ drive either along the main road (A85) or through the enchanting Glen Lonan. There is an extensive selection of shops, bars and restaurants, and is famed for its seafood. You can catch a short ferry trip to one of the Inner Hebrides, including Mull, Staffa and Iona or enjoy a short boat trip around the bay.
