In the heart of Royal Deeside you can easily explore the many towns and villages on the Victorian Heritage Trail. This is Castle Country and there are many worth a visit, including Balmoral, whose grounds are open to visitors from April to end of July each year. The beautiful River Dee is just a few yards beyond, where good fishing can be enjoyed. The ski slopes at the Lecht and Cairngorms can be easily reached and these area also offer plenty of good hill walking. Golf courses abound and some good day trips would include Crathes Castle, Balmoral and the Cambus O’ May forest walks. Shop, pub and restaurant 3 miles.
