These semi-detached holiday cottages refs W43549 and W43550 are set in the stunning and unspoilt valley of Seathwaite right in the heart of the English Lake District. They have been beautifully renovated retaining much of their original character with beams and both enjoy lovely views. Surrounded by spectacular scenery this is an excellent spring board for either walking or touring the rugged fells and beautiful lakes. Lovely cottage with very friendly and helpful owners just down the road. The beds and chairs were much more comfortable than I've found in many cottages and there's a nice big kitchen/diner. The parking space is fine for one big or, with some careful manoeuvring, two medium cars but anything larger would be challenging. Having been a regular visitor to the Lake District for over 50 years, this was my first visit to the Duddon Valley. It's a real hidden gem and it certainly won't be my last. It is, however, very remote so take everything with you that you need - there are no nearby shops.

A comfortable, and well equipped two-bedroom (1 double, 1 twin) cottage in a farm environment. Good TV and WiFi reception but no mobile phone reception. Perfect for walkers and access to some of the wilder parts of the Lake District such as Hardknott and Wrynose passes and Wastwater. Up to an hour to anywhere else of significance - hence the mark for location - but these include Coniston with the Blue Bird Cafe and National Trust Steam Gondola and Ravenglass with the Steam Railway, both of which are recommended. There is a nice Pub which does good food just about in walking distance and a small Post Office/general store a 10 minute drive away. Nothing else local - hence the mark for amenities. Extremely helpful proprietor who lives close by. A perfect location for a quiet holiday in lovely surroundings.

Comfortable very well equipped cottage in great location with a very helpful and friendly owner . Could not have asked or expected more

Really enjoyed our mini break at this cottage. Lovely remote location. Beautiful scenery on your door step. Very dark location at night excellent for stargazing. Cottage as all the basic facilities that you would need. Mobile phone coverage is poor in area but cottage as good WiFi. Local pub and small village shop close by. Would recommend this cottage. Dog friendly too.

We were very disappointed in this cottage. The cutlery and crockery were dirty ( this is not the owners fault but the previous holiday makers) . The fridge didn’t work properly so all our food became frozen and most of it had to be thrown away. The washing machine also didn’t work properly. The furniture looks lovely but is very uncomfortable. The heating upstairs is set to 8 degrees so it’s cold and the downstairs is set to 18 degrees which was ok however both sets of heatings were locked so they couldn’t be changed. The drive into both properties is tight but acceptable however we had issues with the neighbours dog as it kept fouling outside our front door. We never saw the owners at all, this is the first time I have ever stayed at a property and not met the owners which would have been nice. The location of the cottage is beautiful however the cars do tend to drive past quite fast. Sadly our visit was disappointing.

Great walks right from the front door.

Beautiful quiet valley. Nearest shops a few miles away. Pub 2 miles away ( we didn't go there) cottage warm, bed comfortable, lots of hot water and good shower. Kitchen equipment a bit basic. No casserole dish for oven which would be useful. Friendly owner who helped with any issues. No wifi or phone or 3G/4G, though there is a payphone in the house. Good walks from the door and good road access to Wrynose/Hardknott Pass and Eskdale in good weather: we had snow and ice so did not risk it on those days. We really enjoyed the stay and would return.

The cottage was comfortable, warm, clean and well equipped. It is quite remote so be prepared for a drive if you want to visit popular attractions. However, beautiful location and if you are walkers it is great. Local pub, a mile away, does great food at reasonable prices.

Excellent cottage and the owners. Very specious and location is superb. Amenities are good. A WiFi may help as there was no phone signal which can be a problem. Only suggestion is the shower. It is a power shower and often switched to cold water within 60-90s window.

Fit the bill perfect. Beautiful part of the lakes with stunning walks from the doorstep. The cottage was well equipped, comfortable and warm and were greeted on arrival. Would go again.
