No smoking please. \n\nLooking out across the bay of Mont Saint-Michel this complex of attractive 2 and 3 bedroomed terraced houses is a short walk to the lovely port of Cancale - famous for its seafood - and also close to the town centre. Each holiday home has harmonious décor and furnishings and a private terrace opening onto the shared lawned grounds which have uninterrupted views of the sea. The sheltered fine sands of Pors Meur beach are just 4km away. The shared heated swimming pool part inside and part out also has a children’s pool and a jacuzzi and sauna. Walkers will want to explore the coastal path accessed directly from the residence and going north to the cliffs at Pointe-du-Grouin. St. Malo with its walled town and much to explore is just 15km away.     In such an amazing location Les Haues de la Houle has the potential to be a beautiful place to stay, however it is let down by a range issues. Firsty the over all cleanlissness and up keep of the property is poor :- black mould in the shower cubicals,piles of dust and hair under all of the furniture, dirty walls, sofabed was covered in dust inside /underneath, found medication on the floor (found to be a heart tablet that would have been very dangerous if our two year old had swallowed), pillows that were unfit to use. Secondly we booked this property because of the pool and the hot tub. The hot tub was only warm for two days and then it was closed for maintainance for a day and then was cold for the rest of the holiday. The last four days it was colder than the pool (which was cold) then they eventually emptied it and said it had broken. The swimming pool became colder each day until it was unusable the lat few days. Thirdly in self catered accomadation that is required to be cleaned before exit you would expect a vacuum that worked, cloths, a mop and bucket and sweeping brushes that weren't as old as the property. We had a vacuum that didn't suck anything up, a bucket and a dirty floor cloth! Lastly in self catered accomadation in a house or cottage of this size you would expect an oven and large enough work surfaces that the kettle, coffee machine and toaster could be used safley away from the sink and where children could not reach. The doors onto the patio should also have a safety lock as they could easily be opened from the inside by our toddler; we found that we had to move furniture to cover the doors to stop her escaping! Over all I think it is safe to say that we would not stay there again and we are left disapointed that our special family holiday (the last before our eldest goes to university) wasn't the relaxing enjoyable experience that we were hoping for.

    The accommodation was as advertised and clean. We had a couple of small problems which were sorted out immediately by the maintenance man. The receptionists were very helpful and being able to order croissants and baguettes through reception was a great help. The pool was well maintained and there appeared to be adequate sunbeds for those wishing to use them. The walk to the port took approx 10 mins where there was a plentiful supply of restaurants. The supermarket was a few minutes drive which was handy.
