    Lovely holiday apartment all located on one floor. To enter the upstairs apartment, you have to climb a flight of stairs that turn. This might be an issue for less mobile people or elderly/large dogs with arthritis or mobility problems. The kitchen was well equipped with everything you might need for basic cooking. We cooked every night and had no issues with the kitchen. The dining table is a little bit low to sit up at but it wasn't an issue. The lounge and kitchen are open plan which makes for great entertainment. We had friends and family over and it was really easy and cosy to get drinks/food and entertain at the same time. The lounge itself is comfortable and cosy. The dogs loved the heated window seat and stretching out on the rug in front of the radiator. The bedrooms were very good. The beds were the most comfortable I have encountered in a rental property or hotel. Not too hard or springy like most (meaning that I didn't get propelled across the room when my very wriggly husband moved for the 100th time in the night). My only issue with the bedrooms are the windows are not very noise proof. If you're an early to bed kind of person you might be kept awake by noise from the pub. This was only an issue 1 night out of the week though. The bathrooms were very nice. You get a choice of a shower room or a claw foot bath in the other bathroom. Very nicely decorated and huge choice of towels/toiletries. The landlord was very friendly and accommodating. She lives in building which would be handy if you have questions or encounter difficulties. There is one normal sized parking space. This was adequate for us and friends could easily park in the public car park 3 minutes down the road. The space is for a normal sized car, if you have an estate/range rover type car this might be an issue. The area was nice and mostly quiet. Nice selection of places to eat, a COOP up the road and very enjoyable to spend a week in. The property was relatively dog friendly. The lack of garden was not really an issue as you have the whole of Hamble on your doorstep. However, if you have a dog that needs to go out in the night or is elderly and needs a lot of toilet breaks this might be an issue. I didn't mind going for a 6am and 9pm walk with my dogs it was actually quite relaxing. The area is very dog friendly with lots of pubs offering to accommodate dogs. The Hamble common, which is a 5 minute walk from the property, is great for the dogs and really beautiful to go and see the sunrise in the morning. You have the Victoria Country Park a 7 minute drive away which was vast and provided hours of walks. Make sure you bring your own dog bowls etc (easy to forget in a packing rush) as they aren't provided. Overall, we loved staying here. It was a great base for us to visit friends and family. We moved to Scotland 4 years ago and we needed a place for us all (myself, my husband, my mother and my two dogs) to stay to visit everyone. Thank you for having us.

    We had a wonderful stay at Castleton House. Great location, with some super walks nearby and a good selection of local pubs, selling great food. The cottage was so well equipped, cosy and comfortable, everything had been thought of and all our needs were well catered for. The owner was very friendly and helpful. We really enjoyed our stay and would like to return.

    Beautifully appointed and charming, Castleton House is one of the best holiday lets we have stayed in. The view is beautiful and everything you need is on our doorstep if you don’t want to use the car once you arrive. The owner is lovely and very welcoming.
