"Ceol Mara" is the Gaelic for "sea music". When you arrive at Ceol Mara 36 you immediately understand why it is called what it is. Only a couple hundred yards away is an amazing sandy beach.
The beach is accessible directly from the cottage, you simply cross the lane and wander down a path to the sands. It is a unique element having a beach and the sea literally a stone’s throw away from the cottage.
Ceol Mara 36 enjoys fabulous sea views and vistas inland as well as across the marshes to Stornoway. Its rural and coastal situation is made even more fantastic because the main town of the Outer Hebrides, Stornoway, is only three miles away. Ceol Mara 36 therefore offers the best of both worlds - perfect Hebridean coastal location with all amenities needed only a few minutes away.
The main travel routes also arrive and depart in Stornoway. The CalMac ferry route links to Ullapool on the mainland and Stornoway Airport has links to Inverness, Glasgow, Edinburgh and connections beyond. The ferry terminal is just over three miles from the cottage and the airport is just under seven. After a long journey to the Western Isles Ceol Mara 36 is only a few minutes from your arrival point in Stornoway.
So, in addition to having amazing sea and rural views, having direct access to Tong Beach and being only a few minutes from town, Ceol Mara 36 offers a fantastic level of accommodation and is perfectly placed to explore the wider Outer Hebrides.
When arriving at Ceol Mara 36 you will be bowled over by its awesome location. And when you enter the property, you’ll be so glad of your decision to book the place for your holiday.
You enter through the front door and have the spacious, comfortable living/dining room on your right. Through this room is the kitchen and useful boot/drying/internal bike storage room. There is a back door out to the driveway from the kitchen as well. The kitchen is very well stocked, the cooks will enjoy rustling up any meal that comes to mind.
On the first floor there are three bedrooms (double, twin and a single) as well as a family bathroom. It is a great layout and perfect for a variety of groups - couples will like the cottage, but it’s also well-suited to families.
Outside there is a lot of space around the cottage, watch the cows in the fields and look out south to Stornoway. There is also a bike rack in the garden for securing bicycles.
Now a lot of visitors will make a beeline to the west coast beaches of Harris and Lewis, and we encourage you to do so too, but what you have on your doorstep and nearby Ceol Mara is a collection of sandy beaches many visitors overlook. Coll Beach, Gress Beach and the sands at Tolsta are simply sublime.
There are many places to visit nearby that will frankly take your breath away. The Callanish Standing Stones being arguably the most impressive. Make sure you visit the stones as well as the Blackhouse Village and the amazing Stevenson lighthouse at the Butt of Lewis.
Fly-fishing, golf, horse-riding, kayaking, surfing, hiking and biking, the list of activities on your doorstep goes on and on and on.
All in all, Ceol Mara 36 is an outstanding holiday home and we urge you to book it now.
