No smoking.\n This spacious farmhouse was built approximately 400 years ago and has been beautifully appointed to a good standard throughout. Now a welcoming holiday home it has a superb kitchen beams inglenook fireplaces and some exposed rafters. The Beaford area is marvellous walking territory there are riverbank moorland and country lane walks and Chaplands is ideally placed for walking through the beautiful north Devon countryside. At the end of the day refresh yourself in one of the very good local unspoiled country pubs in nearby villages such as Dolton Winkleigh Roborough and Iddesleigh where Michael Morpurgo’s ’War Horse’ is set.. Set on the edge of the village with Dartmoor in full view there are lovely walks along the Tarka Trail and Exmoor fishing in the nearby Stafford Moor Lakes and the north Devon coast is 15 miles.     Overall we were happy with the cottage. However we would have expected it to be cleaner based on the current climate, before putting our clothes away we had to clean all of the wardrobes due to a build up of mould and the exterior could have a done with a clean. That said the beds were so comfortable, we even looked to see the brand as we all slept so well!

    Absolutely loved our stay lovely large cottage with plenty of room in a rural location, private secure paddock which our Cocker spaniel loved running around, and welcoming village pub serving excellent meals, Chaplands is well placed for touring both Devon & Cornwall.

    Absolutely loved Chaplands and will definitely be booking again. Perfect place for us as we have friends who moved there a few months back. Lovely dog walks nearby as a bonus.

    Oh wow - this is the most beautiful cottage I have been to (they have thought of everything) and the beds are sooooo comfy (The Globe Inn (2 minutes walk) offers the most tasteful food which is all home cooked! Would definitely recommend this (and there are some fabulous walks) will go back again anytime

    Stayed at this beautiful farm house in September and oh my gosh what an amazing place. The house itself is stunning and very well equipped. We enjoyed using the large kitchen and cooking together. Our dogs loved having all the extra space and the paddock at the back was great for those lazy days. There are plenty of beautiful walks locally, and a short drive to Instow beach which is superb for dogs and humans alike. Yes this farmhouse is rural, but for us that was an advantage as it was so peaceful. Throughly recommend, met the owners too and such friendly people, they even offered to look after our dogs 

    Sorry not very clean needs some attention, garden not safe for small dogs get under gate , coming out of drive very is very dangerous needs something done !!! , it’s to late in an afternoon to let you in your cottage if driven a long way.
