Private parking for 3 cars. No smoking. This spacious farmhouse was built approximately 400 years ago and has been beautifully appointed to a good standard throughout. Now a welcoming holiday home, it has a superb kitchen, beams, inglenook fireplaces and some exposed rafters. The Beaford area is marvellous walking territory; there are riverbank, moorland and country lane walks, and Chaplands is ideally placed for walking through the beautiful north Devon countryside. At the end of the day, refresh yourself in one of the very good, local, unspoiled country pubs in nearby villages such as Dolton, Winkleigh, Roborough and Iddesleigh, where Michael Morpurgo’s ’War Horse’ is set.. Set on the edge of the village with Dartmoor in full view, there are lovely walks along the Tarka Trail and Exmoor, fishing in the nearby Stafford Moor Lakes, and the north Devon coast is 15 miles. Torrington, with the RHS Rosemoor Garden is 5 miles away. Shop 100 yards, pub 200 yards.

We stayed in Chaplands on 13th of October for one week, Well what an Amazing Cottage, everything you could wish for, Clean tidy, homely warm welcoming, and huge for an old cottage, The local people were so lovely and friendly, As was Annette and her husband next door, the area is a dog walkers paradise, please don't change a thing, The perfect getaway to unwind and relax.

The property is on the main road which is difficult to enter/exit with car! The entrance gate has a very poor means of securing so danger that pets may stray on the main road where cars seem not to adhere to speed limit! The grass would appear not to have been cut for several weeks! The accommodation could not be faulted so pity the other things let it down.
