Situated in the heart of the picturesque village of Abbotskerswell is Church Thatch, a picture postcard ‘chocolate box’ five bedroomed, three storey thatched cottage with idyllic views of the 15th-century village church yet just a stones throw from the pretty pub serving delicious evening meals and local ales to the ever friendly locals and visitors alike. With Church Thatch, you get the best of both worlds. A home that replicates the 500 year old surrounding thatched farmhouse properties, yet has all the contemporary convenience of a house built only 15 years ago. Walk through the solid oak front door into the aged limestone floored hall and choose to relax in front of the limestone and oak inglenook fireplace with its cast iron wood burner warming the solid oak floored spacious living room big enough for 12 people to enjoy the latest Sky TV movie on the 42” television. Or maybe the kids would like to chill in the adjacent snug on bean bags playing Xbox 360 games or just relaxing while mum and dad prepare a family meal on the gas fired 4-oven bright red shiny Aga. The huge homely kitchen with its limestone floors and fireplace, solid oak worktops and dining table is big enough for everyone to enjoy a special family meal time together. After a game of football on the floodlight astro turf mini football pitch or just a glass of wine on the south facing patio it’s time for bed in one of the four tastefully furnished double rooms on the first floor. There is also a stunning medieval style second floor with its own 7ft double antique bed, en-suite with walk-in shower, oak trusses, fitted wardrobes, sloping ceilings, and a separate sleeping area with two single day beds for those tired little ones. It doesn’t matter if you’re looking for coastal walks or seaside fun for the kids, in Torbay or Teignmouth, Dartmoor with it’s ponies or a cream tea at Cockington village, you are only 20-minutes drive away from any of those. A visit to the classy Roman city of Exeter for a day of shopping and eating out, or a fun packed trip to Crealy Adventure Park with all of its rides is only a 30-minute trip. Beach 7 miles. Shop, pub and restaurant 200 yards.
