Residing in the medieval Cinque Port town of Sandwich, and just opposite the pretty church of St Mary’s, is the aptly named Church View Cottage, a Grade II listed, terraced, 17th-century property. Ideal for a couple, it lies within strolling distance of the High Street, where there are shops, pub and restaurants. Just 100 yards from the front door is the River Stour, where you can amble along the quay, take a boat trip or spot the birds and wildlife which inhabit the river bank. St Mary’s Arts Centre hosts recitals and art exhibitions, or take a guided tour of Sandwich and discover the hidden gems of this fascinating town. See the White Mill windmill, take a river bus to Richborough Roman Fort where the Romans invaded Britain in AD 47. You may also be lucky enough to spot seals on the way. Bird watchers will enjoy Sandwich Bay Bird Observatory and Gazen Salts Nature Reserve.Canterbury with its magnificent cathedral, Dover, Deal, Walmer Castle, Goodnestone Park, Port Lympne and Howletts Animal Reserve are all a short drive away. Bring your passport and take a day trip to France from Dover. Royal St George’s Golf Club, one of the courses in the Open Championship rotation, is 2 miles away. Coarse fishing is available nearby (licence required). There are excellent rail connections to Ashford, Canterbury and London. Beach 2½ miles. Shop 530 yards, pub and restaurant 200 yards.

What an beautiful renovated lovely cottage! Very clean, has everything you need, with a lovely garden as well. Sandwich and this cottage made a perfect combination for my short holiday to Kent. We enjoyed everyday!

Enjoyed our stay at Church view cottage,very comfortable,well equipped and nicely decorated whilst retaining some of the character. Kings Arms hotel a short walk away serving great food,the historic town center and quay are all within walking distance. Other places worth a visit are Canterbury and the seaside town of Broadstairs.
