We needed to get away from the bustle and found ourselves at this lofty rural retreat with stunning views across to distant South Downs hills. A rural idyll (see photo from the huge main window). A walk down the hill to the pub took about 10 minutes and the village's excellent butcher supplied our meat for the weekend meals. The owner, Graham, couldn't be more helpful and made us feel welcome when we arrived. Some local West Meon cider, as well as essentials such as milk, was waiting when we arrived. We had the relaxing weekend we needed. The only criticism that I would highlight is that the bathroom has no bath, but a wet-room / walk-in shower. I think ending the day after walks in a hot foamy bath would have made the rating a perfect 10.

The cottage was clean and well equipped, with lovely views from the picture window. We made good use of the book of local walks and enjoyed exploring the surrounding countryside. A top tip we got from a previous review was to bring eyemasks because the curtains don’t cover the top of the windows and I would wholeheartedly recommend this unless you like a very early start in the morning. All in all though, Church View is a wonderfully relaxing place to spend a holiday.

Back door broken so could see through at bottom. Hob markings warn off so hit and miss as to which section put on. Lighting very poor. Cleaned up after our own dog, but that rule did not apply to the owner and his dog. Only met the owner once but did not seem interested in us or our welfare at the cottage. He gave the impression he was only renting out the cottage to make money. Wooden patio table and chairs very rickety

Really disappointing trip. The owner is really kind, accommodating and thoughtful; he left a little welcome pack with fresh eggs, milk and local cider which was a really nice touch, but the walls are paper thin and we could hear every crash and bang from other properties (even conversations) which made us feel very uneasy. When I read it was a communal garden, I didn't realise how many properties that involved and that anyone could walk past the very large, decorative window and see your entire open plan cottage. We had to keep the curtains shut because we felt so exposed. The location and views were spectacular, but with the constant noise it wasn't "dog friendly" nor was it appreciated that other dogs were wandering around the garden, unsupervised, defecating everywhere. If you aren't bothered by noise and don't have a dog, this is the place for you! We ended up leaving a day early because we couldn't take the noise any more. Lovely area and like I said, the owner was lovely, but it wasn't the peaceful, relaxing week we had in mind.

We wanted a chill out weekend with the dog and that's what we got. We loved it and the dog did too. We hope to go back soon. Even the weather was a 10 out of ten.... Bliss

We stayed at the Church View cottage for just over four weeks from the middle of February (between our relocation and house move). We couldn't have wanted for anything more! The Silk family were friendly, very welcoming and had the perfect balance of being attentive, but also letting us get on with it and treat it as if it were a home from home. The cottage itself was faultless! The views out of the floor to ceiling window were stunning and it was lovely watching the horses frolic around in the fields. Waking up with the sunrise through the window in the mornings was a real treat and a great way to start the day. The layout of the cottage works well if you have dogs, we found it very easy to keep clean after slightly muddy walks. The location of the cottage is perfect - the peaceful surroundings have plenty to offer in the way of short and long, interesting walks; whilst you feel out of the way, you are not far from the village and plenty of lovely pubs that serve delicious home cooked food. Easy to access other areas by car as well. Highly recommend a stay here!

When we turned up the cottage wasn't ready due to a misunderstanding. This was quickly and efficiently dealt with, the owner kindly rang the local pub and stood us some drinks and bar snacks while the cottage was done. He then rang the pub to say everything was ready and then bought us some local beers and ciders. Lovely way to rectify a mistake so thank you very much Graham it was much appreciated. Was really impressed with the location of this place having wonderful views. The cottage is well thought out with lovely floor to ceiling windows to take in the beautiful scenery. Nice little kitchen with everything you would need. Comfy beds, nice bathroom, peaceful, and best of all dog friendly with wonderful walks around the farm. Would highly recommend this lovely place and will be returning.
