The cottage looked great. But the kitchen misses some good pans and the bed-for-2 is very small. We are afanily of 3, so we used the other bedroom for 2 and the ‘master bedroom’ for 1.

A lovely cottage in the heart of the village, beautifully clean & warm and close to the pub, with a local community shop a few minutes away. Great position for visiting the local area.

St Mabyn is very well located for travel to the major tourist attractions however the cottage location opposite the St Mabyn Inn meant every night was noisy with the arrival and departure of the Inn customers. Harvest time also involved tractors driving past the cottage every few minutes from 8am/10pm every night including Sunday. The modern heating system was pretty much inoperable either too cold or too hot. Bearing in mind the lack of washing machine, insufficient towels were provided for a week's stay, also the mattresses were uncomfortable. We were impressed with the newly opened community run shop staffed by the delightful villagers. There were no instructions how to operate the key safe and once we had removed the keys we were unable to put them back in it and had to post them through the front door having first advised the owners representative by text of this problem.
Ok so regarding the other reviews , just ignore! Not sure where they stayed but what a great little cottage. Great value for money compared to others in the area. We went out every day but always loved coming back to the cottage. The pub opposite is out of this world. They do an amazing Sunday lunch. Don’t be fooled by the American werewolf in London look to it, they have a fancy back part which is really contemporary! Booking is a must! Great location for all the beaches and attractions make sure you go to the National trust beaches!!!
The cottage itself is cosy and great we are a family of 4 with two young children, it has a lovely sun trap garden great for a bbq if required and a nice little galley kitchen , I didn’t notice it didn’t have a washing machine as I’m on holiday and had no thought to do chores. Yes the cottage could do with a lick of paint but don’t let that turn you off! Well worth every penny. Hope you have a great time as we did. Oh and for the key safe my 6 year old mastered it first time :)
