It makes an ideal base for families or couples looking to explore this unspoilt area of south west Scotland. A particularly attractive feature of the property is the delightful summerhouse at the top of the garden which enjoys simply stunning views of the harbour and the bay. The area, the Rhins of Galloway, boasts idyllic scenery and amazing seascapes, rugged coastlines and secluded sandy beaches which benefit from the warmth of the passing Gulf Stream. There are many beautiful gardens to explore, including the world renowned Logan Botanical Gardens. The area boasts many other pretty little ports like Sandhead, Portpatrick and the RSPB Scotland Mull of Galloway nature reserve, where thousands of seabirds nest in the cliff face during the spring and summer. Harbour porpoises, dolphins, seals, otters and minke whales can also be spotted. Walking is a delight, whether clifftop, beaches, hills or forests. It is a cyclist’s paradise, with the world famous 7Stanes within easy reach. The town of Stranraer offers a selection of shops and a few miles further on is Cairnryan, home to the ferry which makes regular daily trips back and forth to Ireland, another great day out.

It was a lovely cottage and just by the beach so it was great for taking the dog. Very spacious and well equipped. Did book for local café/restaurant on last night but when got there was closed and no phone call to warn us. Still minor issue on the enjoyment of holiday.

Drummore is a great village on the beach close to several attractions and some great golf courses , Claremont was a lovely holiday home with all home comforts and great views from the top of the garden (70 steps but worth it)

This was by far the best cottage we have ever rented. Packed with thoughtful home comforts, spacious and nicely decorated with a really fun steep garden with a nice deck and sun house at the top. We had a really nice stay with our dog. It felt more like a home from home than just a rental. The village was quiet as out of season but we like peace and quiet and loved that the beach was just across the road. Everyone we met was friendly and helpful.

A lovely cottage that was really nicely presented, we felt at home as soon as we walked through the door. Lots of space throughout, really nice and warm with the heating and the log burner. The village is a little low of amenities, unfortunately the Ship Inn next door is closed and up for sale - this looked like it would have been a real find, the other options were either closed or not that great. We did a nice coast walk from the cottage, but for most things you will need to drive - Mull of Galloway and the lighthouse along with Portpatrick were our highlights. We'd happily stay again which is the best recommendation!

Lovely cottage right on the beach. Comfortable, spacious and clean. Well equipped and nice welcome pack. Sadly glass in wood burner broken by previous visitors so couldn't use but otherwise all facilities very good. Pub closed but locals say will re-open. Had a lovely stay. Not much happening in Drummore which is quiet and peaceful. Would stay again in cottage.

Claremont cottage is a superb getaway, with beautiful panoramic views from the summer house. The cottage itself has everything you could want and more and was decorated perfectly for Christmas. Myself and family had a wonderful time and our dog Bailey loved being in the sea and sleeping in front of the fire. Can't wait go come back!!

We loved our week here, The beach was literally over the road, It has some sand but when we were there it had large mats of Kelp that had been driven up by recent storms; this was not a problem, as we just walked a bit further down the road to a Kelp free beach. The Walk to the Lighthouse was the highlight of our stay, but if you decide to do the coastal route like we did, be prepared for a very steep and precipitous path towards the end. That said - I wouldn't have missed it, it gave us some of the best views around. The local village has a reasonably stocked store and post office, and two pubs (The ship inn is next door) however Stranrear is only 20 mins drive and has a Lidl and a Morrison's, both a good size and the Morrison's had the cheapest petrol in the area. We went in November - not the height of the season - and most of the tourist attractions close at the end of October - but the lighthouse coffee bar is still open at weekends and the nearby towns of Port Logan and Portpatrick are delightful. In all a very enjoyable out of season break in excellent accommodation.
