No children under 6 yrs.\n Coachmans Cottage originally the coachman’s accommodation provides spacious accommodation and adjoins the owner’s property which has a doll’s hospital open to the public three days a week. It has extensive garden views from the rear over approximately 3 acres of mature gardens shared with the owners. Coachman’s Cottage is located in the coastal village of Bacton and 400 yards from the beach. Sea fishing is available locally. The seaside resort of Cromer is 10 miles and Sheringham are 14 miles. Wroxham the capital of the Broads is 12 miles with daily boat and river trips. Bacton Woods is close by ideal for cycling walking and picnics.     This is a lovely cottage, very spacious and well looked after. The gardens are magnificent and we spent lots of wandering around them. Our hosts were very welcoming, genial and did their best to give us information about the cottage and surrounding area and amenities. Definitely worth a visit.

    The cottage was lovely, spacious and well equipped. Easy to find and close to a shop, the chippy, and the beach! We had a great time and would happily stay here again.

    We had a lovely time. The cottage is very close to the sea, with very fresh, sea air. A short drive from Cromer, Walcott, Bewilderwood and other great venues. The garden was a bonus, especially the real, grass tennis court that we made maximum use of. And the attached dolls museum, where we picked up some nice items.

    The website said (and, at time of writing, still says) that there was a pub 20 yards away. This was one of the filters that we applied when selecting this property. But the pub stopped trading months before our visit. So that meant that we had to drive somewhere for an evening meal, or eat in. Thus, we did not have the holiday experience that we searched out. This misleading statement should be removed from the property description.

    Chris and Margaret warmly welcomed us to the wing of their sprawling mansion amid almost 3 acres of beautiful garden, explaining some of the features of this gem of a cottage. We noticed the Customers’ Choice award for 2016, which was well earned. It takes skill to hide a full-sized tennis court in a garden, but they have achieved it. Full marks to the gardener. The whole house was clean, tidy and well-equipped. 10/10 to the cleaner too. The two of us rattled around in the enormous three-bedroom accommodation that seemed to have more floor area than our own home and could comfortably swallow a family of five, all doing their own thing. The vast upstairs lounge with its comfortable settee and armchairs in front of the Freeview TV got the most use, but we sat on the comfy sofa in the dining/garden room to enjoy another view of the lawned area over a cup of tea. The large, main bedroom had a comfortable, if a little creaky bed, to match the floor. The wardrobe and dressing table handles tapped in time to our footsteps, but that only added to the quirky charm of the cottage and was resolved by wrapping tissues around them. A word of caution - when empty, the wardrobe had a tendency to tip forward when its doors were opened, but this improved when weighted down with clothes. The kitchen/breakfast room was well equipped. The large table was convenient, and used for all our meals. Having toilets on both floors was a definite advantage, given the size of the house. The ample parking was conveniently located nearest to the cottage and well signed. A few driving tips: Coast road is very long and TomTom guided us to the middle of the postcode so we overshot on arrival. I should have relied on the instructions in the booking form which clearly advise that when approaching from the South, as you turn off the B1159 North Walsham Road, look out for the sandwich board for Margaret’s Doll World on the left, before the pub and the first turning. Between Bacton and Hunstanton, the coast road is quite slow going, so bear this in mind when planning trips. At the end of our stay, it was closed Eastbound from Cromer for water main replacement and the diversion went quite a way inland. Routes to places of interest often include single track roads, which also take longer than planned.
