We greatly enjoyed a return to West Wight after an absence of twenty-seven years. Coastguard Cottage was very well presented and fitted out and it suited all our needs. Well provided with maps and local information as well as the history of the coastguard service. There was a welcome pack for us on arrival.

You really have to read the instructions on how to get to the cottage, once your in the area. The picture shown is not the way in. You have to enter a private unmade road full of potholes. The signage showing you where to park is old and weathered and the same colour as the fence it sits on, difficult to see, same as the sign on the fence to show you the gate to enter. I do think the furniture needs an upgrade. Upon arrival as we had difficulty getting in we phoned the contact, she wasn't available and we left a message. Surly when you are expecting new guests, you are available. We never heard back, and my wife phoned when we eventually gained entry. On the Sunday having arrived back in the afternoon, the TV didn't have any signal, I went outside to see what was wrong and the aerial was on the floor, not on the wall. I phoned again and left a message. It wasn't till Monday afternoon that I received a message to say that they were going to contact an aerial man to fix the problem. Tuesday I received a message to say that he couldn't arrive till Friday. Now I know this can't be helped, but an no point was a little compensation offered. I think that didn't help the PR. So all in all I think I can say that we didn't enjoy the experience.

A quaint little cottage that is thoughtfully equipped, there's even a tea strainer! A nice welcome tray that included biscuits for the dog. The bedrooms are lovely and beds very comfortable. The gardens front and back were lovely and very secure so Milo could be let out without worry. The location was just right for getting around the island, though I hadn't realised the Isle of Wight was going to be so hilly! Major towns were easy to find and Osborne House is a treasure. All in all a good week,

A lovely cottage in a great location that is so convenient for the beach. Freshwater Bay is excellent for swimming and kayaking with good walking close by. The owner's representative is very helpful and even phoned to say the cottage was ready for us ahead of the published time. We had an excellent stay and will certainly consider staying again and will recommend to friends and family.

Ideally located for walking, both coastal and countryside. Lovely pub within reasonable walking distance. Quiet and peaceful location. Few amenities within walking distance, but everything you need within a five minute drive. Very dog friendly - dog biscuits included in welcome pack, plus dog bowls and towels. Our dog is sulking because he didn't want to come home. The size of the island means that all attractions are within striking distance, and Freshwater Bay is at the quiet end - which is precisely why we returned for a second visit.

Nice welcome tray and close to the beach. Did find the cottage a little small for 3 adults and 12yr old child. The garden brilliant both front and back for dogs being fully enclosed. Parking is difficult for more than one car, need to go to main road or pay at car park.
