Built in 1850, end terrace Cobblers Cottage still retains many of its original features. A homely cottage that has been renovated by the present owners, it is light and spacious with a great sun room area for returning from the beach. The kids are kept entertained with a games room to the rear of the property with its own pool table and table football. Located in the traditional seaside resort of Filey, this holiday cottage is a perfect base to visit the east coast and the North York Moors National Park.
Filey has won many awards for its 5-mile stretch of golden sands, which is great for the children. Filey Brigg, a narrow peninsula strip of land to the north of the bay, keeps children entertained for hours rock pooling. On the cliff tops above marks the end of the Cleveland Way walk where you’ll see many a weary walker finishing the 109 mile walk. The town has plenty of shops, bars and restaurants, as well as a promenade to take that leisurely walk along.
The seaside towns of Scarborough and Bridlington are a short drive away and the RSPB bird sanctuary at Bempton Cliffs is just along the coast. Here you can see puffins and other migrating seabirds. Yorkshire is famous for its market towns and you have plenty which are easily accessible.
The city of York is just an hour away by car and is definitely not to be missed as it has been voted as one of the top 10 cities to visit. The city has great shops, lots of museums and theatres, street entertainment and a variety of international restaurants. There are river cruises and open top tourist buses to take you around the beautiful walled city. Cobblers Cottage is a great place for a traditional family holiday with the added bonus of parking.
