    We absolutely loved staying at the cottage. The hosts made us so welcome. There was everything you needed and it was so cosy, loved the underfloor heating and the very hot water. The beds were very comfortable and it was so peaceful. A beautiful place to spend New Year’s Eve and the start to 2019 ?

    We were given a warm welcome by the owners. We found that the property did not have a washing machine which I would suggest is an essential for any holiday let, especially this one set in moorland and fells where walking and exploring the countryside are the main activities and clothes get dirty. There is no launderette in Alston. Perhaps the dishwasher - which we didn't use - could be swapped for a washing machine. With a couple of days to go the owner did some washing for us which was very kind of her.
