Walkers and cyclists are particularly well catered for with many walks available right from the doorstep. Other activities within a few miles include horse riding and golf. Pendle also has its own dry ski slopes. Sabden village less than a mile away has two general storesoff licencespost office and a delicatessen as well as two pubs one of which serves excellent food. The village also has a children’s playground and big play area. A wider range of amenities can be found in Clitheroe with its impressive ancient castle or Whalley with its historic abbey. Both offer individual shops and good quality restaurants and are within a 10-minute drive. The market towns of Settle and Skipton the Yorkshire Dales Lake District and North West Coast are within easy driving distance.     A very well thought out holiday home. Quality fixtures and fittings, and linen. Well equipped kitchen. Welcoming, but unobtrusive host, provided welcome pack of home baked goods, milk and eggs. There was a welcome pack for dogs, too, and even though we didn’t have a dog with us we appreciated that the place was spotlessly clean, with no trace, or smell of previous doggy guests. Also appreciated, though thankfully not needed, was the cycle repair tools. Steep and bumpy track up from main road, through farmyard, but well worth the journey, for the beautiful views from all windows, which provide plenty of light. Spacious and cosy cottage, more than adequate for 4 adults in our party.
