Corlan, meaning gathering place, is aptly named, as the house provides all the space for a group of friends, or families enjoying a holiday together. This large detached house is set within the village of Llanfarian, just 2½ miles south of the university and seaside town of Aberyswyth. The open plan L-shaped living space is a wonderful area to gather with everyone at night. The separate games room, with darts and a mini pool table, is a great place for both young and old. There’s a ground floor bedroom and shower room, and as there are no steps to the property, this may be ideal for anyone who is less mobile. Upstairs there’s a master bedroom with an en-suite shower room, two further bedrooms and separate family bathroom. The large outdoor hot tub will be a welcome place to relax after a busy day exploring the area, towels not included.
The seaside town of Aberystwyth is less than 3 miles away, and here you will find an array of shops, restaurants and cafés, as well as the pier and promenade. To the north end of the sea front, you will see the Victorian Cliff Railway taking passengers on the stately journey to the summit of Constitution Hill, where you can see the Camera Obscura, or sit and have a coffee whilst taking in the magnificent views of Cardigan Bay stretched out in front of you. Being a university town, there’s a very good arts centre and theatre, and the National Library of Wales offers free guided tours. The steam railway departs from the town and goes through stunning countryside to Devil’s Bridge and waterfalls and is well worth a visit. If its beaches you’re after, then the area has a stunning selection. At the northern end of the superb Aberystwyth beach, is the impressive sand dune system of the Ynyslas National Nature Reserve and visitor centre at Borth, which juts out halfway across the mouth of the Dovey Estuary. Visit Ynys-Hir, the RSPB wildlife haven and the Dyfi Osprey Project.
The fascinating Borth Submerged Forest is most of the time hidden by sand and the sea, but occasionally rough seas scour the sand away, and you see the forest at low tide along the beach, where stumps of oak, pine, birch, willow and hazel, which have been preserved by the acid anaerobic conditions in the peat, can be seen. Radiocarbon dating suggests these trees died about 1500 BC.
Families will enjoy a day out at the Silver Mountain Experience lead mines, just 15 minutes east of Aberystwyth. Walkers and cyclists will appreciate the myriad of opportunities. Join the cycle path at the end of the road that goes to nearby Tanybwlch beach in one direction, or all the way to the old drovers town of Tregaron, 15 miles away. A nearby footpath will lead you to a children’s play area in the village. Immerse yourself in this thriving region of west Wales and make Corlan your base for a lovely holiday full of memories. Beach 2½ miles. Shop 530 yards, pub 2½ miles.
Corlan (UK6179) can be booked together with Hafod (UK6178) and Elgandy (UK6180) to accommodate up to 21 guests.

A lovely cottage for a family get together. Everywhere was lovely and clean, just a little disappointed with the creased bedding. However I would still highly recommend and would return to this property.

Lovely house in a quiet area but just off the main coastal road. Rooms are big and beds comfortable. Most nights we saw Red Kites flying over the house whilst sitting in the hot tub. There is a lovely local fish and chip takeaway where fish are cooked to order. Lots of dog friendly beaches and places to eat. Aberystwyth, New Quay, Aberporth , Cardigan, Tresaith all dog friendly. 30 mins drive to see the Red Kites been fed, an amazing sight. We can't wait to return. ,

An amazing house, it in no way can be called a cottage!! Very clean, modern, most things work, just the odd light bulb needed replacing. The hot tub was a-maz-ing! Large airy rooms, beds comfortable, kitchen well equipped. Aberystwyth and all around great for visits. You must go and see the red kite centre at 3pm, when they get fed. 100 plus turn up. Wonderful sight.

It was our ist holiday. 2 families celebrating our new grandson. We had a lovely time. The house is spacious and had everything there, even a welcome basket which was greatfully received. The hot tub was an added bonus and was lovely to relax, even in the cloudy weather. The games room came in handy for the men. Its a few minutes drive into aberystwyth which has plenty of shops, cafes and bars. Harrys bar does fantastic meals. John was always there on hand for anything we needed. We all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and would highly recomend Corlan. We will soon be back.

We really enjoyed our stay, plenty space for all of us. Only downside was the cleanliness. And there was no cleaning products for us even to use to clean when we arrived, so we had to go out to the shops to buy stuff for this. Once we cleaned we were happy as the house is great with everything you need!

Fantastic house, was clean on arrival a bottle of prosecco and Welsh cakes on arrival. Even the pool table was set up ready. No pub in the village and the shop is tiny, (about the same size as the bathroom in the house) ? so aslong as you take things with you it's fine. Aberystwyth is about £9 in a taxi which is fab. Would definitely recommend this house to anyone!! John who looks after it is friendly and polite as well ?
