This historic cottage has been in the family for multiple generations and has undergone a full renovation to bring this characterful property into the 21st century while showing off many of the original features including the large wooden beams. Sleeping four this property is ideal for couples and small families.\n\nThe attention to detail throughout is evident as soon as you walk in and the quality of finish is quickly apparent with the underfloor heating in the entrance and kitchen as well as a wood burner in the living room. With tasteful decoration and excellent interior design throughout this elegant abode provides the ideal base for your next Cumbrian adventure. Upstairs you’ll find a tastefully decorated double bedroom and a good-sized twin room along with a modern family bathroom. At the rear of the property you’ll find an enclosed courtyard garden complete with patio and garden furniture. It won’t take long before you truly feel at home with bags of character and charm it gives you all the ingredients for a memorable stay.\n\nCorner Cottage is within easy walking distance of an excellent pub serving food and local ales. Located on the eastern border of the Lake District National Park you have easy access to some fantastic days out including the iconic Lowther Castle and Gardens. To the north you’ll find the vibrant town of Penrith 6½ miles with supermarkets and plenty of independent shops pubs and restaurants dotted around the town square. To the west you have the delights of Pooley Bridge and Ullswater 7 miles including the famous steamers where you can ride on Lake Ullswater to various points around this famous stretch of water. This part of Cumbria acts as the gateway to the Northern Lakes with fantastic walking climbing and cycling routes. Hikers and bikers will be in their element.     Everything superb only negative beds too soft but suppose that's personal preference. Would highly recommend to anyone wanting a peaceful retreat.

    A nice, straightforward cottage well appointed and reasonably close to the northern Lakes and some good walks from Lowther. Downside is its proximity to a huge dairy farm, which means a stream of tractors, milk tankers and other paraphernalia of an agribiz concern disturb at times.

    Excellent cottage and I will have no hesitation going back to Corner Cottage, hence my top marks. Great Strickland is very convenient for touring the area, being close to the A6 and eastwards towards Appleby. Get good local maps, such as Ordnance Survey maps, for exploring the area and avoiding Penrith which can be a bottleneck. We ate three evenings at The Strickland Arms, which speaks for itself and is recommended. There is no shop in the village, hence my mark for local amenities, but we stocked up at Morrisons in Penrith and the Co-op in Shap so it was not a problem. All in all a most enjoyable holiday in a first class cottage and I look forward to a return visit.
