The cottage was clean and cosy, and ideal for the two of us to use as a base to explore the local area. It is situated close to the local shops and pubs and within easy reach, by car, of lots of local walking routes. Although the cottage is small, it had everything needed for a relaxing break. Would recommend.

The cottage is in a great location . Sadly when we arrived the log burner had no wood ready as promised and we had to contact the owner to ask her to turn on the central heating as she does it remotely from the comfort of her own home miles awa . She did however turn it in when we rang . The upstairs is much more modern and inviting then the downstairs . The living room has large old dusty wooden sideboards that take up way too much room for a very small lounge and it has just one small 2 seater with a very small tub chair . The rug in the lounge is about 100 years old and looks drab and didn’t smell to fresh either when me and my little girl were sat in the floor playing board games .there is an old fashioned drop leaf table rammed up against the wall but only has two chairs so couldn’t even sit together on a night to eat a meal we had to balance it on our knees. If the downstairs was updated and the old wooden sideboards removed it would be a lot more welcoming and maybe not to have to ask to ring for permission for the heating to be turned I would be a gateway help too .after speaking to the owner she mentioned she was having trouble with her cleaner and it’s obvious why everywhere was dusty and the shower seal had mould all around it that I had to clean before we could use it .its a great shame as the location is great in a nice village but the cottage needs a little more effort from the owners . The guest book is filial if bead reviews saying people would never return. I would come back if it was modernised and access to heating was made easier .there is a raised pond in the garden which has obviously not seen clean water in years it had a pungent smell and was full of green algae

We found several problems with this cottage. Cleanliness was patchy, no welcome pack provided, wood burner had not been cleaned & re-set, and only a single log left in basket. Table cloth was stained and un-ironed. Dog mess on garden path (to rear of house). Floors and some furniture very dusty. This is definitely not a property suitable for anyone less than able, due to very steep stairs, and high step up to get into the shower. Parking is also rather restricted, and sometimes only possible a bit of a walk away. The bathroom, however, was very pleasant and modern, and the double bed comfortable. I would recommend Kirby Stephen for a pleasant break.

There is much about this cottage that is good quality and good value, the disappointment is that the central heating was set at too low a level and we were unable to have it increased we were quite cool/cold each evening.
