The Farmhouse is one of seven stone built holiday cottages in the heart of the Peak District National Park and is ideal for families or groups staying together. It benefits from a lovely conservatory/dining room and second floor bedrooms with vaulted ceilings. The first and second floors are access via bespoke oak open tread curved staircases.
The complex is surrounded by fabulous countryside in an area renowned for its fine walking and cycling. For those wanting to give their cars a true rest, walks can be enjoyed direct from the door with a nature reserve surrounding Cotterill Farm, and the bridleway at the end of the drive takes you to the ever popular village of Hartington with its pubs, cafés and local store. For those with bikes the nearby Sustrans Route 54 links the High Peak Trail to the Tissington Trail, which as a former railway line is also perfect for walkers.
Located midway between Ashbourne and Buxton the cottages are well placed for the host of major tourist attractions that the Peak District offers. The magnificent Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall, beautiful village of Castleton, the Dove and Manifold Valleys, plus the attractive local towns of Buxton, Ashbourne, Bakewell and Matlock, can all be reached in under 30 minutes. Ashbourne has a good range of shops, while Buxton has superb architecture including the Opera House. Bakewell has a wonderful setting on the River Wye, and is of course home of the Bakewell Pudding. The former spa town of Matlock and the spectacular location of neighbouring Matlock Bath is the setting for a mining museum, cable car rides and show caves. Finally Britain’s premier theme park Alton Towers is also around ½ hour away. Shop 2 miles, pub and restaurant ½ mile.
The Farmhouse can be booked together with Cotterill Barn (UK4015), Haystore (UK4016), Milking Parlour (UK4017), Millstone (UK4018), The Dairy (UK4020) and The Granary (UK4021) to accommodate up to 30 guests.
