Cotterill Barn is one of seven stone built holiday cottages, and it benefits from detached accommodation and an enclosed garden perfect for relaxing. It is located within the heart of the Peak District National Park surrounded by fabulous countryside in an area renowned for its fine walking and cycling. For those wanting to give their cars a true rest, walks can be enjoyed direct from the door with a nature reserve surrounding Cotterill Farm, and the bridleway at the end of the drive takes you to the ever popular village of Hartington with its pubs, cafés and local store. For those with bikes the nearby Sustrans Route 54 links the High Peak Trail to the Tissington Trail, which as a former railway line is also perfect for walkers.
Located midway between Ashbourne and Buxton the cottages are well placed for the host of major tourist attractions that the Peak District offers. The magnificent Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall, beautiful village of Castleton, the Dove and Manifold Valleys, plus the attractive local towns of Buxton, Ashbourne, Bakewell and Matlock, can all be reached in under 30 minutes. Ashbourne has a good range of shops, while Buxton has superb architecture including the Opera House. Bakewell has a wonderful setting on the River Wye, and is of course home of the Bakewell Pudding. The former spa town of Matlock and the spectacular location of neighbouring Matlock Bath is the setting for a mining museum, cable car rides and show caves. Finally Britain’s premier theme park Alton Towers is also around ½ hour away. Shop 2 miles, pub and restaurant ½ mile.
Cotterill Barn can be booked together with Haystore (UK4016), Milking Parlour (UK4017), Millstone, (UK4018), The Farmhouse (UK4019), The Dairy (UK4020) and The Granary (UK4021) to accommodate up to 31 guests.

The cottage was clean, cosy, warm and well equipped. I would definitely book again if visiting the area. A couple of shelves in each of the bathrooms and shower cubicles would be useful to put toiletries on. The mattresses on the single beds were more suited to children or teenagers than adults.

Perfect place for a quiet country getaway. The area is quite isolated, so if you're looking for lots of local amenities you might be in for a drive to nearby Ashbourne, but we were just looking for a clean and quiet space for a lovely long weekend in the Peak District. Two rooms with en-suites is ideal - no fighting over who gets to use the bathroom! And the kitchen has everything you could need, including a dishwasher if you aren't keen to scrub dishes. Really recommend this charming peaceful cottage.

We found the single bed uncomfortable and caused back ache. We put the spare mattress on top which solved the problem. Suggest new mattresses. The towels also are quite old. Some sunchairs for relaxing outside would be lovely for the hot weather. Otherwise well equipped and a wonderful surrounding.

Fantastic cottage, perfect for our party of four plus 2 dogs. Great location for walking with dogs and just a very short walk to the Waterloo Pub, a fantastic pub with very welcoming staff and great meals and also allows dogs. Cottage had everything we needed and was very warm and cosy as weather turned bad and we had snow on our 2nd day.

A comfy and cosy cottage, especially as it was only 3c outside. Excellent facilities with everything one needed for a relaxing holiday. No near neighbours, except a flock of sheep, who were very quiet!
