The cottage is perfectly positioned for fabulous walking in such a lovely village. The local pub, kings arms, is excellent - food, cider, Guinness and general atmosphere (dog friendly too).
The cottage itself it really disappointing. Far too many notices telling us what we can’t do. I’m on holiday, I am an adult and I have paid to stay there. No problem with friendly messages, but tatty posters about restrictions on pets, not to touch a broken down antique chest, where the recycling centre is and ‘not to flush anything You haven’t eaten’ just made me feel I was in a hostel.
The outside of the cottage - can’t call it a garden - has rubble, stinging nettles, overgrown lengths of roses and broken pots. Plus a shed with the door off and rubbish to the rafters. Actually dangerous for children. Such a pity as the cottage could be so lovely. Kitchen cupboards sticky and one drawer broken. Poor carpet on stairs and missing section of banisters. I think cottages. Com should stop letting this cottage advertise until some of this is sorted out.

We had a lovely week in an idyllic setting in a cottage that has so much to offer. The reasons for the lower rating for overall and cleanliness are that we felt the cottage was in need of a really good deep clean and tidy up. These problems were highlighted to the cottage rental people who in turn advised the owners. There were problems that had been highlighted in previous comments in the guest book and they appeared not to have been addressed.
On the positive side, the property was very well equipped and we were not wanting for anything. The heating and hot water were excellent. The linen and towels were clean and fresh and the beds comfortable. The garden was next to a field and had views of Corfe castle in the distance.

A cottage best described as quirky. There are lots of good points and evidence of thought by the owners about those who stay there. sky+, heated floors, games, well stocked kitchen, very warm cottage But you have to see past the bad with a diy jobs that need finishing off around the place and carpet coming away on the stairs the carpet is not thick enough for grippers and pulls away when walked upon. different persons have differing standards on when a diy job is finished. it is fair to say this is reflected in the other reviews and we went in this with eyes open. i would recommend this cottage to others for its location. we enjoyed our stay. some investment is needing in tidying up the property surroundings and fixing the odd jobs around the house to raise the ratings as it has the potential to be a stella property.

A quaint well equipped cottage but not clean

The cottage is situated in a lovely location. We were disappointed with the standard of the cottage, it was overall in a very tired state and in need of repair. The stairs were dangerous, not just because of their steepness but because the carpet on them was coming away - both our children injured their toes on exposed carpet grippers and when descending the stairs the carpetting moved and was very dangerous as you could slip forward on each stair where the carpet wasn't attached properly.
The downstairs toilet had an overwhelming smell of urine in the carpet, we noticed in the visitor book that this had been mentioned a year earlier and nothing had been done about it. The mattress on the downstairs bed was very very uncomfortable and was covered in stains.
The flooring upstairs was very sloped and quite scary to walk on and the shower and bath were both very poor.
The kitchen however was very well equipped and the oven was brilliant.
There was a utility room which contained a very broken and dilapidated cupboard /cabinet that took up most of the room and was labelled as the cleaners cupboard. A strange pump made continuous noises in this area and caused disruption to the sleep of those upstairs.
We were very disappointed with accommodation and spent as much time as possible away from the accommodation. I wouldn't be able to recommend this cottage to anyone else. We aren't fussy people and always try and make the most of what we get but on this occasion I do feel that I need to say something so that no one else has to stay in this type of accommodation.
A nice cottage but not the finished article, much work required to bring this property up to the required safety standards, electrical wiring, pathways, steps. handrails etc.
Bag of logs promised on advert not provided, owner who says he lives 200miles away has not set any procedures in place to cover this and showed a distinct lack of interest in any remedial action.
I was lucky to find the cottage at a reduced rate while my kitchen was being ripped apart down in Cornwall. It’s a very old property so it might not be up to modern standards.
It could do with a really good clean but nothing to worry about.
Yes, a nice place with a great view towards Corfe.
This is a charming cottage and the owner has thought of everything to make your holiday, games for adults and children, tea, coffee, sauces, even a nice packet of biscuits, we have stayed with the company on many occasions and we have never been so well looked after as regards the little extras. On the downside which is no reflection on the owner were the stairs which were very steep and the handrail needs to have the base taken out so that a grip can be made on it. To some people this could add to the charm of the cottage. The views from the lovely open rear garden are breathtaking and but for the stairs we would visit again. This cottage is not really for the elderly or young children, but for anyone else it is lovely.
This is an ideal cottage for people who enjoy walking and rural locations, which we do. Kitchen was well stocked with equipment and the cottage was clean where it mattered. It is a listed cottage so cobwebs are part of the territory so extra care cleaning would be a benefit. Beds really comfy and the cottage was warm and cosy. The views from the garden were amazing as we had three lovely sunsets. Easy parking and well situated for lots of places to visit nearby - Lulworth Cove walk to Durdle Door, Corfe Castle, Swanage Railway and Brownsea Island are well worth seeing. Steep stairs and low ceilings add to the character but wouldn't suit everyone.
Location o the property is very good. Very dog friendly with nice walks straight from the cottage. Excellent pub in the village The Kings Arms. The Square and Compass in nearby Worth Maltravers poor. Pasties their only food fare we all thought we awful. The cottage itself was clean where it needed to be but is in dire need of a complete make over. The owner/s might like to contemplate using a percentage of the income fee in a rolling renovation project.

A charming and appealing cottage full of character being comfortable and well kitted out and very rustic with low beams. However beware, if your over six foot one needs to remember to duck !! but all part of the charm - Would, without doubt book again as well locate to explore the Purbecks and beyond.

I thought the cottage was stunning to look at and the setting and location perfect but the cottage itself not only was let down by the cleanliness but needs some serious time and money spent on it to improve it to make it worth the price!!!
Had a nice week but very disappointed in the state of the cottage. The bins outside hadn't been emptied in some time..... no notice of when to put bins out , we had maggots in the bin resulting in flies that ended up in our bedrooms. I felt physically sick. Also snail trail constantly thought the dining room thru to utility
