It nestles in open farmland underneath the Skirrid Mountain and the four comfortable holiday cottages are sympathetically converted from stone farm buildings set around the farmyard. The setting is perfect for children of all ages adults too. There is plenty of room to run around and explore – and plenty of animals to befriend…. a pair of Kune-kune miniature pigs a very large Gloucester Old Spot a donkey goats sheep chickens you can collect your own eggs for breakfast if you want to ducks dogs cats and loads of horses and ponies – including a tiny rescue pony named Tinkerbell.\nYou could stay around the farm all day – with a heated indoor swimming pool hot tub games room and riding school on site with tuition for all ages from 4 years plus and then a BBQ in the evening. There are footpaths running directly from the farm and dogs are welcome. You are ideally place to explore the Brecon Beacons Black Mountains Usk and Wye Valleys and the fantastic countryside that surrounds the nearest market town of Abergavenny which is only 3 miles away – home of the Food Festival. It boasts good shops and a market a cinema theatre castle and museum as well as good choice of pubs cafes and restaurants including Michelin starred ‘Walnut Tree’ which is within walking distance of the farm. Despite the accommodation not being great, we had a pretty good holiday. The kids had fun hanging out with the animals and we were able to do a couple of walks in the area. My main feed back for the cottage would be that the cottage itself and the other facilities (pool, hot tub, games room) is just a bit run down, and not always the cleanest. I appreciate it’s on a working farm, but there were lots of debris in the pool and I was particularly surprised when a frog jumped out to say hello as I was retracting the pool cover. The cottage itself had most of what you need, but

The cottage is in amazing countryside and set on a open farm. I feel the cottage needs updating including the sofas, mattress and bedding which was very well worn. Owners very pleasant. Did not use pool as quite grubby looking and hot tub needed a good clean. However thid could be individual choice

We have just returned from our Easter holiday at Cowshed cottage. I was pleasantly surprised at how lovely the cottage is. Warm and cosy, comfortable and clean. It is exactly as described on the website, it is simply furnished with a small basic kitchen, but was lovely to find clean modern new kitchen units and hob, and even better to find the dishwasher. Comfortable beds and plenty of storage, and a nice entrance hall . Great location, so easy to get to places. We managed to go up two mountains, down a coal mine, on a canal on a boat, visit two castles, enjoy local cafes, in the lovely town of Abergavenny, my sons aged 13 and 10, really enjoyed the pool on the farm, and made use of the games room, they loved the animals, and they both had a horse riding lesson, on the farm, which was great, would have liked to fitted more lessons but we ran out of time. Our first holiday to Wales, and actually in UK, and we absolutely loved it. Highly recommend. I would say just remember this is a working farm , and very old buildings, so don’t book expecting immaculate accommodation, this is the real deal, and is clearly a well looked after and loved cottage. The owners, are there if you need them, but otherwise, leave you to get on with your holiday.

Absolutely the perfect holiday, kids loved the animals, pool, hot tub and the park. First night was really cold but after that the cottage warmed up. Would recommend to people
