No smoking.\n\n Located in an idyllic steading known as Tughall Steads Cowslip Cottage is nestled at the end of a small terrace of three former farm cottages enjoying beautiful and unbroken rural views across open farmland. This cottage is tastefully furnished and immaculately presented throughout. The accommodation is mainly on one level and the large wood burner in the livingdining room ensures a cosy welcome all year round. Two fully enclosed gardens one with timber swings make this property a haven for families with a pet. Tughall Steads is situated equidistant between Newton-by-the-Sea and Beadnell both around 2 miles away.\n\nBeadnell is a popular holiday destination that offers local facilities such as family-friendly pubs and a broad range of activities for water sport enthusiasts including sea kayaking kite surfing and scuba diving and there’s also a wide expanse of golden sandy beach that Beadnell is renowned for.\n\n2 miles up the coastline is the traditional fishing port of Seahouses where boat trips to the nearby Farne Islands famous for its bird sanctuaries and seal colony depart regularly from its harbour. There are also several charming tea rooms quaint pubs and shops and as there’s also horse riding fishing and golf on the links close by Beadnell makes for a fantastic day out for all manner of holidaymakers. \n\nA further 3 miles up the coast is the picturesque village of Bamburgh with its majestic fortress making this a hotspot for history buffs. Holy Island the site of Lindisfarne Castle and also cited as the birthplace of Christianity in the UK can be seen from the beach or just a few miles inland there’s the bustling market town of Alnwick with its own dramatic castle which was made famous by the film phenomenon Harry Potter.     While many aspects of the cottage were delightful it fell short of my expectations in several ways:- there was no starter kindling or logs for the stove although the information in the folder about the cottage stated that it was supplied (I took a photo of this); the kitchen lacked: a frying pan(!) kitchen towel, cling film or baking foil salt dishwasher salt. The sieve was jammed down the back of one of the cupboards. Nowadays a welcome pack of milk, bread etc is commonplace so it was a surprise to see nothing provided especially when the nearest shop is some distance away. It took a while to work out that the "cooker" switch actually controlled the hob. The toaster seemed to be on its last legs. Sadly, we could not get the tv to work. Last year we had a cottage near Bamburgh at Xmas and another in Lesbury at Easter. I do not feel that Cowslip came up to our expectations and because of the shortcomings was not value for money.

    we enjoyed our stay in cowslip cottage, it was cosy comfy clean accommodation in a beautiful countryside setting but just a short drive to all amenities and gorgeous beaches. the only negative if you like a fried egg take a frying pan.

    A lovely cosy, warm and spacious cottage, set in the open countryside. If you want a cottage in the peace and quiet this is the perfect place to get away from it all. Just a short drive to beautiful beaches. The big lobby is perfect for all your sandy (muddy boots) and dog. You can wake up in the morning and watch the sun rise from the bedroom. Our dog loved the back garden which is completely enclosed and there is a lovely garden across a lane to the front. We had a lovely stay in Cowslip cottage and would love to return.

    Great location, disappointed to have to do a lot of cleaning on arrival. Kitchen needs a new microwave and a few more pans (cupboards are full of kitchen things, but not much of it useful!). Parents should be aware that the garden with the swings is across a small track which cars from the other cottages use, so small children need supervision.

    The location was fantastic and the beaches were wonderful, however the cottage was neglected and poorly maintained. The boiler was leaking and a plumber had to come out, the towel rail in the bathroom kept falling off, other general maintenance jobs needed doing and it needed a deep clean! It could be so lovely with some TLC!
