Great location. Lovely cottage had everything we needed.

Nice house with lovely views. Easy to get to local attractions. We were there during haymaking so quite a lot of farm machinery around but not a problem. It would be nice if bedding and towels were supplied. Overall a nice place to stay.

The cottage is in a lovely quiet location but quite poorly equipped & could have been cleaner. It was a lot cleaner when we left as we cleaned the rooms we used to the standard we expect! We picked a property with a dishwasher but there was a note to say not to put the pans in the dishwasher so ended up washing up. On the one occasion we used it we found crockery in there, obviously this had not been checked prior to our arrival. We also wanted wifi but signal & phone signal was a bit hit & miss, perhaps this should be added to description. Despite all this we has an enjoyable holiday.

Crag house itself is a lovely house, and in a beautiful area. However, there was nowhere for our 2 spaniels to run , and no walks straight from the door. A small grass area in the front garden, & only a concrete track/road outside. We had to drive our dogs somewhere to run them, luckily we found a lovely kind farmer in Grantley who let us use his field for the week. There were pictures of dogs on the walls, but dogs weren't allowed past the kitchen! So we didn't find it that dog friendly. The house shares a yard with the housekeepers cottage, very close, and we didn't find the housekeeper that friendly, , she greeted us on Sat evening with....."I didn't know what time you were arriving!" and no smile or introduction, or welcome. She tutted when I said I had forgotten to bring some bottom bed sheets with me. We didn not enjoy having to bring our own bedding and towels etc. There was not even a tea-towel to dry the dishes!!! I had an asthamtic reaction to the strong smelling plug-in in the kitchen, it was extremely over-powering, and it took us a few hours to realise what the terrible smell was. We had to put it outside, and open all the windows until the smell diminished. The heating went of at an early time each evening, and were were cold. The sign stated that were were not to alter the heating times. There was only enough wood to light the fire once. Our regular cottages we stay in on the Moors always supply bedding, towels, wood for the fire/woodburners and nothing is too much trouble with the owners. We just thought we would try the dales for a change. So Crag house not for us. We will not be booking this property again, and we come to Yorkshire 4 times every year.

Lovely comfortable cottage. Spacious bedrooms and bathrooms. Remote but beautiful location. The only downsides to the property is that the cleanliness could be improved, the oven, grill and pans all needed cleaning before use and the kitchen wasn’t fully equipped. The ‘dogs allowed’ area is more suited to small dogs. The caretaker was very helpful and friendly. Over all we had a lovely holiday and enjoyed our time at Crag House.
