Hoseasons "A secluded property within yards of the beach with an open fire and private hot tub.\n\nDelightfully secluded yet only a short stroll from the beach this beautifully presented property offers an ideal holiday getaway. The coastal village of Southerness projecting out into the Solway Firth has undoubtedly some of the most outstanding views of the Solway Firth to the Lake District beyond. Explore the beach try sea fishing or simply enjoy the views of the striking lighthouse built in 1749. Back at the property cosy up in front of the open fire or relax in the private hot tub What could be better? Further afield the area has something to offer everyone from walking sailing and mountain biking at the world famous 7Stanes range. The area is also well recognised for its clear skies it is one of the 12 best stargazing sites in the world and the first Dark Sky Park in the UK.\n" https://img.chooseacottage.co.uk/Property/124/840/1240582.jpg CC537261

We had a nice holiday. Loved the garden and hot tub. Owners very friendly and helpful. It’s a shame we didn’t realise it was so much out of the way.

The cottage itself was a really really good size, lovely big garden and the rooms were spacious. The kitchen and conservatory were a great space for entertaining/group of people to gather. Sadly, the cleanliness of the cottage was below acceptable standards. There was food left over in the kitchen from previous occupants, the cupboards were full of crumbs, the fireplace in the living room was very dusty, we found a nit comb on the carpet in the living room, there were cobwebs everywhere, the dishwasher wasn’t great at cleaning the dishes and could’ve done with a service/cleaning treatment inside. The kitchen knives weren’t sharp at all and very hard to use when prepping vegetables and alike. The shower screen in the main bathroom was totally ineffective and the bathroom practically flooded if the shower wasn’t turned to face the wall. Also the bath in the bathroom took forever to drain - we bought a declogger solution for the plug hole but this had absolutely no effect whatsoever. The travelcot that we had prebooked for our 18 month old son did not open properly - the bottom fixing wouldn’t lock in place meaning the base wasn’t completely flat. With the cot mattress in place along with another cot mattress that we always add on into travel cots, this made the cot comfortable and usable for our little boy. However I think it’s important that the travel cot does open fully for safe use. The location of the cottage was absolutely fine- it was very near the beach and the caravan park next door caused us no bother at all. We were a good 30 minute drive from a supermarket/petrol station but the mini market was relatively well stocked for little bits to top up on throughout the week. The beds were comfy and warm and there was a good selection of DVDs and Games on offer if you so wanted to use them. The hot tub was divine- we all enjoyed it very much and it was worth the extra we paid for it. Every morning there was a gentleman who came to check the tub and make sure it was safe and usable - he never bothered us at all and we liked that it was being checked daily before we used it. The owner of the cottage greeted us on our arrival and she was really friendly and accommodating in fetching the travel cot and high chair in for us. All in all, we had a great break and we would stay at Craigieburn again and recommend the cottage but only IF the cleanliness of it was greatly improved. This is the only aspect of our stay that let our holiday down, we shouldn’t have had to buy bleach and plug hole unblockers etc while on holiday. We did feed this back to the lady, Nicki, who came to clean the cottage on the morning of our departure so I do hope that the owners receive this feedback and improve it for future guests.

Fab cottage. Great relaxing holiday. Hot tub is fantastic. All the rooms are clean and spacious with a brilliant kitchen. Our family is converting the fridge freezer. Can’t fault this cottage or its location.
