A magical place with breathtaking views across Loch Ard to ( when we were there) a snow capped Ben Lomond. The house is magnificent. All the rooms had bathrooms which were clean and well equipped. The beds were lovely and comfortable with crisp, clean cotton bed linen.    The kitchen is well equipped and had everything we needed.Kay was really helpful with instructions for getting in and letting us know that the house had all the basics - salt, pepper a range of spices, olive oil toilet paper etc already there. The fresh flowers, wine and fudge were a lovely touch and much enjoyed.    We all enjoyed cooking on the Aga which also keeps the  kitchen warm.  A great place for breakfast and warming up after a  morning swim.  We were there in February.  The water is just a quick walk down the garden.  We swam every morning sometimes joined by the ducks or swans. It was glorious. When we couldn't get the padlock opened for the houses private jetty, the next door neighbor let us launch ourselves from hers.   The forest walks around the Loch were wonderful and not difficult , if you don't go off the path. We think we saw an otter. We also hired bikes Aberfoyle and cycled some of the forest routes.   We were lucky with the weather, but it wouldn't of mattered because the ever changing views from the living room and front bedrooms were nothing short of stunning. When the rain came it was dramatic pouring in wind whipped pulses across the Loch. Sitting watching the landscape changing with the weather from the warmth of the living room was a delight. Sinking into the sofas in front of the open fire with a glass of wine to read or play games after dinner was a lovely way to end the day. Even waking in the night offered the opportunity to gaze out of the bedroom window at a vast star filled sky with very little light pollution. I would highly recommend Creag-ard house. I left relaxed, invigorated, recharged and plotting my return.  We saw the red squirrel...but not the elusive pine marten.

Beautiful house in a great location. Lovely grounds which was great for the dogs.

Fabulous period house. Beautiful, peaceful location with many walks. Bathrooms very clean. Unfortunately the beds were very uncomfortable. There were quite a few cobwebs throughout the house and dirty marks on the walls etc including the kitchen cupboards that could easily have been wiped clean Saying that, we absolutely loved our stay at Creag-Ard House, especially cooking on the Aga, lighting the open fire in the lounge and playing pool every evening after dinner. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
