Carse Walloch Cottage is a delightful holiday cottage set in its own large garden with lovely views of the Galloway Hills. All on the ground floor, it has been refurbished in 2020 and has the added bonus of a lovely conservatory overlooking the enclosed garden, perfect for your four legged friend.
Situated on a working sheep and dairy farm, stabling is also available by prior arrangement, if you wish to bring your horse along too.
Carse Walloch Cottage is situated between Creetown and Newton Stewart, which is a lively little town known as the ’Gateway to the Galloway Hills’. Carse Walloch Cottage is located at the edge of Galloway Forest Park, Britain’s largest forest park with 300 square miles of wild beauty just waiting to be explored. The park boasts tranquil valleys, rugged rock faces, forest, moorland, lochs and ancient woodland, alongside a huge diversity of wildlife including red and roe deer, wild goats and many birds of prey. The park has also been awarded the status of one of only four Dark Sky Parks in the western world, and when the sun sets, enthusiasts come to wonder at the universe revealed above. The location is perfect for walkers, golfers and cyclists, with Glentrool, Kirroughtree and the 7stanes mountain bike trails just a few minutes along the road, as well as a great choice of golf courses.
There is an abundance of fishing, bird watching, beautiful and exotic gardens, many rocky coves, sandy beaches and quaint villages to explore along the Machars Peninsula. The towns of Castle Douglas, ’the food town’, Gatehouse of Fleet and Kirkcudbright, ’the artist’s town’, are all within a short drive. Beach 21 miles. Shop, pub and restaurant 5 miles.
Carse Walloch Cottage can be booked with Cree Lodge (ref UK13636) and Willow Lodge (ref UK13637) to accommodate up to 12 guests.
