On arrival, the Caretaker was ill and unable to meet us, and we were unable to open the key-safe as we'd been given the wrong access number. Having been corrected by phone, the safe opened. The wrought-iron staircase is not accessible by the dogs who needed carrying upstairs every time they needed to go into the garden. Cribba lies away from the road up a narrow passageway strewn with debris from other dwellings. The narrow country lane leads to a fuel station plus store, and a supermarket.

Although our dog didn't like the spiral staircase at first, he became good at going up and down! We all loved the garden, the local area. The cottage was very, very clean and beds were extremely comfortable. All in all we were pleased. Two downsides were the hot water didn't last three people all day and the living room chairs were a bit uncomfortable.

Cribba is a lovely cottage located in a very small hamlet, so if you want seclusion its fantastic. The cottage itself is lovingly restored with the modern touches feeling like they're original features. For us, the only minus point was the lack of WiFi. It was great to detox the whole family from our devices but there are times when you do need it for work or If you get stuck in due to the weather. Also bear in mind that spiral staircase is not easy to get cases up and down, so pack appropriately. This does not detract from what is a lovely cottage which is very well located for travelling to Padstow and the lovely beaches of Rock and Daymer Bay as well as places like Port Isaac and Tintagel. Local pubs are walkable but involve either crossing a main road (without a dedicated crossing point) or a couple of steep climbs along dark, twisty roads. Plus no dedicated parking could be a problem if the locals are all at home. Overall though, a lovely stay in a wonderful cottage.

if you’re looking for a quiet, cosy little cottage for just a couple of people, this would be ideal, the bedrooms are very comfortable and spacious and there’s also a small, but well equipped kitchen. The downstairs living area is very compact and I think for 4 adults the sofa and chairs really aren’t suitable enough. But my main criticism is that it is advertised as pet friendly and it most definitely isn’t. Access to the rear garden (which is secure and is the only appropriate garden for a dog as the front is only a patio area that leads to the road) is on the first floor which is only accessible up a steep winding wrought iron stair case. I went away with my beagle who couldn’t walk up the staircase due to the large gaps in the wrought iron, which meant if I wanted him to go in the garden I had to carry him up the narrow staircase. Upon reading the guest book in the cottage, a lot of other people had the same compliant. Had it not been advertised as pet- friendly, this obviously wouldn’t have been an issue.
