Cuddy Cottage (named after the local name for the eider duck, Northumberland’s emblem bird) is a truly charming detached cottage. It sits nestled in a traditional fishing hamlet near Seahouses village, midway between Bamburgh and Beadnell, and within half an hour’s drive of Holy Island. It is in the middle of the famous Northumberland Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty so is the perfect choice for those who want to be centrally located for exploring the coastline whilst at the same time enjoying a comfortable, stylish base close to local facilities. This spacious cottage is ideal for families or groups alike and provides well-designed accommodation in which to relax. With three large bedrooms and two bathrooms Cuddy Cottage provides good quality modern holiday accommodation for six. All the accommodation is on the ground floor and has been stylishly decorated to compliment the surrounding coastal landscape. Open the front door and you’re on holiday. The entrance hall leads you to the bedrooms and through to the inviting lounge, complete with wood burning stove. The well-equipped kitchen is beyond, and opens onto a garden room with lantern roof - to enjoy the sunshine during the day or to stargaze at night. This additional space gives a light and airy ambience and doors on two sides lead you to an enclosed and private lawned garden to the rear and adjoining sheltered patio. The garden is south facing; sunny and a truly peaceful haven for some rest and relaxation with mature flowering shrubs and wildlife. With garden furniture and barbecue on the patio area, this is the perfect place for enjoying the clear air and coastal ambience.
At Cuddy Cottage you have so much on your doorstep - two beaches within one mile, and Bamburgh and Beadnell villages each only around five minutes by car; and you can be at Holy Island in only half an hour. A short level walk to nearby Seahouses offers you charming facilities including restaurants and pubs, gift shops, tea rooms, a supermarket as well as a seaside atmosphere. The harbour is the place to take boat trips to the protected Farne Island bird sanctuaries for puffins and terns, and seals. Horse riding is available just around the corner from the cottage, and the 18 hole golf course is less than a mile away. Just a few miles inland is Alnwick, with its own dramatic castle, often referred to as the ’Windsor of the North’ and ancestral home of the Duke of Northumberland (and film location for Harry Potter’s Hogwarts). Alnwick Garden is a spectacular contemporary interpretation of a formal garden including the Grand Cascade waterfall, Poison Garden and a restaurant inside the largest tree house in Europe.
