    Perched on the hillside in the heart of spectacular North West Sutherland, Sgarbh is a fully equipped and self-contained pod. Accessed via a short track on the owner’s working farm, surrounded by sheep and enjoying incredible views across the sea to the hills beyond, Sgarbh is one of two beautifully presented pods. The accommodation is fully open plan and has a landscape theme. Pretty oranges and muted browns have been incorporated into the pretty soft furnishings and pictures. The attention to detail adds to the ambience and prettiness of this accommodation. Sgarbh has a fully equipped kitchen area with Belfast sink and electric hob, and the sofa doubles up as a bed for two small children. The main double bed at the far end of the pod has attractively presented bedding that enhances the landscape theme. The owners provide a welcome pack, and a breakfast box can be provided for each visitor, at cost by direct arrangement with the owner). Outside is a lovely, private raised decking area with outdoor dining table and chairs, and provides an ideal spot to enjoy a quiet dram whilst drinking in the amazing views across the bay, whilst lambs gamble in the foreground. The name Sgarbh is Gaelic for cormorant, which are regularly spotted along this shoreline.

    The immediate area is a haven for wildlife. Ospreys, eagles, seals and otters are all seen locally and deer roam the hills nearby. Sgarbh is situated just off the North Coast 500 route, which passes through some of the most spectacular areas to be found anywhere in the British Isles. The surrounding area consists of unspoilt natural landscape with distinctive mountain ranges, which include Suilven, Canisp and Quinag. There are numerous sandy beaches, coves and dramatic coastal walks all along this coastline, with Culkein beach just a few yards away. Sailing, kayaking, mountain biking, fishing and climbing are all popular with visitors. The pretty fishing village of Lochinver, just 10 miles away, has an excellent selection of facilities, including restaurants, pubs, small shops and cafés. Beach 300 yards. Shop ¼ mile, pub and restaurant 10 miles.
