We enjoyed our stay at Cygnet Cottage the location was perfect and we thought Warkworth was lovely and an ideal location for visiting the surrounding area. The cottage was comfortable and had everything we needed but thought it could do with a bit of freshening up.

Potentially a great property in a perfect location, sadly let down by the poor state of the decor, flooring and general condition. In particular, the bathroom with cracked tiles, carpets that are old and stained, and lack of maintenance of the front garden. A real concern was that the internal front door could not be opened from the inside if fully closed.

Wonderful location, right opposite the river. The cottage itself is clean and comfortable. I didn't encounter any problems.

We arrived Dec 22nd it was like walking into a freezer it was so cold i would have thought the owners would have put some heating on to welcome our arrival. We didn't have any hot water or heating .The boiler had silver insulation tape holding it together at the bottom. The shower had tape holding the top together and tape at the bottom too.The bin was full to overflowing in the front garden when we arrived. We were most shocked that the mattress did not have a mattress protector on it ,I thought this was a basic in today's standards. There were older comments in the visitors book that still hadn't been dealt with 6 months later. WE were asked to wait in for a boiler repair man to come but we couldn't risk that he might not be able to repair it on Christmas eve and we would be stuck in a freezing cottage for Christmas day so we had to come back home .We did receive a full refund but what a drama to ruin our Christmas plans.

Absolutely no concerns at all, and would be happy to stay again. The cottage was very much a home - from - home (we live in an old croft house in NW Scotland), and we found it an ideal base to explore Northumberland. The "8" score for comfort and equipment reflects a mattress that didn't ideally suit ourselves - but you can't please everybody - a dripping tap, and insufficent hot water for a bath - but that might be our lack of experience with the supply or controls. But overall, happy to go for 9 out of 10!

This cottage is in a great location with lovely view. No parking problems. Kitchen well equipped, living room comfortable. Nice double bedroom, mattress too hard for us but that’s personal preference. We felt like the cottage lacked TLC & has not been maintained to a standard we would expect, in particular the cleaning let it down. The bathroom tiles had mould, as did window seals, a squished insect was on the ceiling over the bath. The saving grace of that room is a powerful shower although the shower head is brown (limescale?), nothing a toothbrush & bit of bleach wouldn’t fix. The bathroom floor wasn’t very clean & if you looked down behind the radiator to the shelf below it’s black with dirt. I wasn’t looking for problems but I’d dropped a sock behind. The dining area has a plastic roof which, from the state of the skirting below has leaked several times. We had a storm on our penultimate night which flooded the area which we mopped up with our own towels (as towels aren’t provided). Decided it was time to leave a day early. The kitchen tap was dripping when we arrived & continued to do so for the whole week. The cleaners must have seen this prior to our arrival. Very sorry to leave an overall negative review but some of the letting income badly needs to be re-invested.

A great cottage with the best location opposite the river. Generally good and value for money however I would advise the cleanliness was average and the bathroom needs a refurb. We also found the previous guests clothes still in the washing machine and childs bedroom which was off putting.
