The main light in the coffee was broken and they were aware of this before our arrival as last guest had left a note in the kitchen and the note hadn't been removed. The shower was unbearably hot. We were offered a move on day 3 but we declined as we had to leave due to a family emergency and contacted the owner but never got a reply regarding our early departure.

Lovely, well looked after cottage with everything we needed for a few days away. A couple of minutes walk from Stanhope main street which has a few shops, pubs, cafes & takeaways. We found it a great base to explore the area and as dog owners walked along the river that runs through the town, the quarry walk just up from the cottage & several other places within a short drive.

Great value, this modern cottege is well situated for visiting Weardale etc and is in excellent order and well maintained. The shared conservatory entrance is good for taking off wet/dirty clothes and is a bit of a sun trap. Several pubs offering food in the village along with a fish and chip shop that is to die for-superb beer batter and 70% cheaper than home. However, it is only fair to point out that though there is private parking it is cramped and difficult to manouver in with two residential properties sharing the space. Being dog friendly I had supposed that there would be an area to exercise the dogs, but the only option given to us was a walk up the very steep road to a field full of sheep that did move off when we entered but left behind a carpet of droppings so you can imagine the state of our footware! Yes, I do reomend this cottage but really only for couples with one vehicle.

Hi, The cottage and it's surroundings were beautiful. We had to leave early because my husband was called in to work on the Sunday morning. The only thing I would advise is not to go the weekend that Stanhope Show is on as the town was full of the funfair people and the pubs were very rowdy. But Stanhope is beautiful and the cottage is beautiful and has everything you need with a lovely host.

We enjoyed our stay in this comfortable cottage. We were lucky to have the shared conservatory to ourselves all week which was a bonus. The cottage had all we needed and is in a lovely location - good walking straight from the door and pretty close to the village but really quiet at night. We were a bit disappointed that none of the 3 pubs was serving food in the evenings while we were there but there is a fabulous Spanish tapas restaurant and takeaways within walking distance. We also used the local open air pool. This is a good value cottage in a beautiful part of the country. The friendly owner lives next door and is on hand with advice but not intrusive.
