Hoseasons "A fantastic location with stunning south facing views. Parking for 2 cars.\n\n Daisy Bank Cottage is a wonderful place to stay as a base for exploring the Peak District National Park or just for enjoying the local rural tranquillity. Situated in the hamlet of Sparrow Pit in the heart of the Peak District there are views to the front over rolling countryside. To the rear the vista stretches to Mam Tor and the hills around Castleton a village ever popular with visitors and walkers and renowned for its Blue John caves and caverns. The village pub is close by and as well as a number of walks from the door the cottage is also ideally situated for a healthy stroll over to Castleton lunch in one of its many pubs then a walk back to snuggle up in front of the cottage’s cosy fireplace.\n\nNearby are Buxton Bakewell Chatsworth House and Lyme Park. The nearest small town Chapel-en-le Frith where all shopping can be done is a short drive away. The spa town of Buxton is a delight with its Opera House Crescent and Pump Room and the famous ’Buxton Water’ available straight from the well. When tasting the tap water in the cottage you will realise you are in an area rightly renowned for the quality of the water " https://img.chooseacottage.co.uk/Property/735/840/735295.jpg CC412073

Staying during Storm Dennis probably meant we did not see Daisy Bank cottage in its best light. It was a shame the Aga wasn't working as it meant the kitchen was cold and the back passage was extremely cold. There was also rainwater leaking in the main bedroom and the lounge window. The cottage was advertised as having WiFi but it did not work the entire duration of our stay.

We really liked this cottage. It had a big table in the kitchen and it meant that family could visit for the day and have a meal with us. The lady who takes care of the property was really helpful and lent us equipment that we needed during our stay. Also it was Halloween and she took us and our twin grandchildren to houses in the village that would accept trick or treaters. There are some good walks nearby and friendly Chapel-en-le-Frith is good for shopping, restaurants etc. I was sorry to leave.

Warm and cosy, just right for a family stay in the Peak District. Very traditional inside and out but practical rather than dainty. All the modern conveniences coupled with the retro look. Super walks straight from the door, with the more popular Hope and Edale valleys a very short drive away.

We visited Daisy Bank Cottage around 5 years ago, and decided to re-visit as we liked the rather remote hamlet with its one pub ; this may not suit everyone. Set on the side of a hill this old cottage is spacious and at the same time cosy, an open coal fire can be lit on cold evenings to enhance this in the front living room. Views from most windows are excellent and you can see for miles around. Parking in front of the garage gets visitors cars off the small road, and the friendly ( but unobtrusive owner) has a spectacular show of garden flowers , something we didnt see last time as it was cold and snowy. A pleasant surprise this time was the refitted bathroom with walk in shower, much easier for us pensioners to use than the large bath. Be aware the local pub has limited opening hours for meals, however an enjoyable holiday with mainly sunny weather for us.
