Three generations of family and three dachshunds holidayed here in October. We had a lovely time and would definitely recommend it. Highlights were that it felt remote surrounded by gorgeous countryside but it was actually close to amenities and there was lots to do nearby. The house is beautiful and grand with lots of space. The garden to the rear is secure for small dogs and much more to the side and all around for bigger dogs if you close the gate to the drive. The surrounding fields were perfect for dog walks and are also secure. Jane was very welcoming and informative. The wifi is good enough to stream on one device at a time if you take your own fire stick or similar. Would recommend visiting Castle Howard, Nunnington House and York. The chippy in Rillington does a lovely fish and chips. The house / decor could use a little tlc but it didn’t detract from our stay.

Wow what a find, close to all amenities yet in a peaceful rural location Perfect for dogs as secure as long as your dogs are not fence jumpers, lots of rabbits around, garden was perfect for the dogs and they loved it running around. When the frogs are out at night be careful so are the insects. Cottage / castle was huge there was only 2 of us there and 2 friends came to stop for a couple of nights Very relaxing, you felt comfortable in the cottage as it’s not immaculate and pristine We enjoyed it so much we booked again for next year The only downside was the water for the taps in the bathrooms was just a trickle, kitchen and showers were fine Just loved this old castle and I would highly recommend

This was a fantastic place for our family gathering. Plenty of space for everyone and Deer Park was well equipped even down to the small details( dishwasher tablets, washing powder etc) . The information sent prior to the holiday was excellent. We would thoroughly recommend Deer Park and hope to return again soon.

A wonderful venue for a traditional family holiday. The children loved the quirky layout of the house and climbing trees in the grounds with lots of room to run around. Very comfortable beds and well equipped with thoughtful supply everyday requirements (washing powder, dishwasher tablets) The owner was really welcoming, helpful and quick to sort out any problems. Plenty of parking space and easy to find. Highly recommended.

We loved the quirkiness of Deer Park and how much like a home it was. Our weather during the stay was excellent so we didn't make the most of all the wonderful inside rooms but can imagine on a cold day, the fires, aga and woodburner would be delightful. We did struggle a bit with the hot water system but that was probably us and one of the beds could be a bit sturdier and an outside Barbecue would have made it perfect, but overall we had a lovely stay and would recommend it to any big family for a wonderful holiday.

A beautiful place close to some unknown gems - for example the largest monolith in the UK, and Filey - genteel and with a huge sandy beach. The plumbing in Deer Park needs some fathoming to get it to work, but the owner knows this and bent over backwards to explain how it all worked. A lovely warm welcoming house, with very helpful and friendly owners

An excellent venue for our extended family gathering aged from 7years to 75. Lots to do in the area, and Deer Park very well appointed, and we had a warm welcome and welcome pack when we arrived. Really loved the facilities, quiet, rural with easy access out and about. Good local amenities. Thoroughly recommended

Cottage was good. Dont think its worth the high price when the inside is not to a high spec. Ie not enough seating in the main lounge. Very disappointed that the local pubs did not serve food after 6pm on Sunday. But the cottage location is great.

A historic house that's very comfortable and homely. Had lots of spaces for us all, along with a well equiped kitchen. Surrounded by large grounds and nearby woods ideal for a short wander out.
