it was a great place and a lovely cottage we really enjoyed ourselves the only issue we had is the property owner is really grumpy about you using the tumble drier , it does not say that it is a shared tumble dryer and she was quiet abrupt towards us shouting that she hadn't been able to dry her clothes all week , well i am sorry but if you don't want holiday letters using your tumble drier then don't advertise it on the booking site simple as , apart from the tumble dryer issue we had a lovely time and would go back except next time we won't touch the tumble dryer

Holiday cottage needed a face lift and brought into the 21st century loosing the carpets which were old , net curtains and floral soft furnishings.no WiFi which was annoying and tv didn’t have a hdmi port . On the plus side it is spacious with an amazing view over the bay and hills with a wee herd of cows to watch over the fence . Hill down to cottage steep and rough so care is needed not to damage your car .

The location of Distillery Cottage was excellent, however access to the cottage could be difficult because you have to drive through the car park of Skye Oysters which was very busy at times. The cleanliness was very disappointing and in my opinion required a thorough deep clean as there was dust and grime everywhere. Some of the window could not be opened as the keys had been lost. The garden area and entry to the cottage when wet became very muddy causing mud to be trod into the kitchen. The directions provided to the cottage were very poor, indicating turn right when in fact it is a left turn. Overall this cottage disappointed!

We had an absolutely fantastic time. The location of the cottage is perfect. It has fantastic views over the loch and the mountains and is central to many places we wanted to go. It is close to many shops but more importantly close to the wonderful beaches and walks. The owners were very welcoming and friendly, they made us feel at home. I will be going there every year (or even live there permanently if I am lucky)

This was the first time we had stayed at Distillery Croft Cottage, having last visited Skye over 20 years ago. We have stayed all over Scotland on many other occasions though and are using our experiences elsewhere for the purpose of comparison. It has a superb location, half way up a hillside above Talisker distillery (hence the name), with wonderful views over Loch Harport towards both the Red and Black Cuillins. It is quite well placed to use as a base to tour the whole island, however the village itself is quite small with only one place to eat and one tiny shop for essentials. The nearest supermarket (and petrol) is about half an hour away. The cottage is comfortable and warm, and it was nice to have the choice between a shower or a bath. It will accommodate up to four (double and twin) and has all 'mod-cons' in the kitchen, except dishwasher. The owner lives next door and is always around if needed. Overall we enjoyed our stay, but do have one reservation. The property is furnished like a home, not a holiday rental, and is in a mixture of styles and woods. We felt that some of the furnishings were looking tired, one of the dining chairs threatened to come apart and parts of the carpet and rugs were looking a bit threadbare. Outside the decking was fine (and used most evenings) but the handrails were deteriorating in places. Not a H&S issue (my other half works in property maintenance!) and shouldn't put you off coming, but it does need some attention. Would we come back? Yes, but would like to see a little investment in places, to bring it into tip-top condition.
