Dolphin is a delightful cottage set in a glorious location. The weather was great for us too. Disappointments were that the radio did not work and in Wimbledon week it would have been good to see the matches, sadly the TV was capput. Efficient water heating system and kitchen, Harry tried his best to help us with the TV . We do not have an Ipad.

Dolphin Cottage is a charming seaside themed cottage in a stunning location, a stone's throw from the beach. It is well equipped within the kitchen and living areas and was a very pleasant place to stay for a week. Particularly when the sun was shining- it is a real sun trap! Whilst I understand the age of the property, I do think that the décor is starting to look a little tired and could potentially do with a refresh. The Shower Curtain was mouldy and could benefit from a replacement, the bedding also seemed in need of a newer update. We booked the cottage for 3 people, as my 8 year old son was to stay on the bed settee. On arrival there was no bedding or towels left out for us, which meant searching through some disorganised cupboards to locate these. This could have been a better welcome. We found that some of the crockery was not clean but had potentially been put away by previous tenants, not a problem really but maybe worth the cleaners checking this when they prepare for the next guests. Finally the washing machine also leaks and we were not sure who to mention this to, as there was no contact number available. All in all we have a fabulous time in Portmellon, the short walk to Mevagissey for the main amenities was fine, worth noting that there is only a Pub and small café in Portmellon- there are no shops for groceries etc. Despite our constructive feedback, we would be more than happy to return to this little bolt hole by the sea.

It was a wonderful location and very restful - plenty to see and do. The cottage was perfectly positioned and although I need of some TLC - new television, cooker hood, a less than hyper -sensitive smoke alarm - provided us with a fantastic base for a great break in beautiful Cornwall

Fantastic location, views, beach, sound of the sea, mevagissey 10min walk. This place has great potential, it would benefit from from some love and attention, needs updating (especially the bathroom, showers just a trickle). Fire is a real asset, but fire back broken and smokes quite a lot (sets off smoke alarm). A welcome pack and pint of milk would be nice. Bed very comfortable and electric blanket handy( although didn't discover until half way through week).

Lovely cottage & location. Great layout for dogs as they could have the ground floor as their bedroom! No outside grass area for late night toilet breaks but everything else outweighed that! Would definitely recommend.

Great for exploring the South West Coast Path. Pub close by which is friendly to dogs as well as humans. Very relaxing and quiet location.

A stunning location, loved watching the waves crash. Short walk to Mevagissey, ideal for access to coast path and main attractions Lost Gardens of Heligan and Eden Project a short drive.

It was a lovely holiday if you didn’t have to carry a toddler up all the stairs both inside the cottage and outside. I must say they did have everything you needed inside even down to a high chair and toddler cutlery. However it’s a 20 minute walk to town which I wouldn’t mind but it is on a very skinny road so having two big dogs and a pram is dangerous. I personally wouldn’t stay here again but some people may love it. The views were awesome. The building itself was cosy but was damaged like the wall had what looks like damp, one of the chairs were broken, hot water runs out fairly quickly. The bit I must say was badly designed is that there isn’t a garden, so if your dog needs a wee day or night you have to walk them down to the unlit beach and hope that the tide isn’t in. But the beach is great for crabbing which was nice.

Hmmm - had great hopes for this place but the property felt neglected. Fire extinguisher expired in 2003, fire alarm next to kitchen did not work, peeling paint, kitchen appeared to be equipped with a random assortment of chipped crockery from the local charity shop, sofa bed was filthy when folded out, linen for sofa bed was missing, tiny TV on table is not ideal for dining options, lack of extractor fans in kitchen and bathroom not ideal. Parking on double yellows to unload luggage is also problematic. Location overlooking sea is priceless.

Excellent place for a relaxing holiday by the sea, highly recommended. Mevagissey just 10 mins walk away’with all amenities. Just be aware that Portmellon beach is not dog friendly but Porthluny 10 mins away by car is fantastic

Lovely, peaceful break in a quaint fisherman’s cottage with Mevagissey a short walk away.
