This holiday property is set in the centre of the former slate quarrying town of Blaenau Ffestiniog, which is surrounded by the beautiful Snowdonia National Park. The property has the added benefit of private parking for 1 car and a security ring set in concrete for motorbikes or bicycles. Evidence of the towns’ former role as the slate capital of Europe may be seen in the landscape, whilst recent developments have seen the area turned into a mecca for thrill seekers. You can choose whether to bounce on trampoline nets deep underground in an old slate quarry at Bounce Below, or soar majestically over them on the world’s largest zipwire zone at Zipworld Titan. You can take a tour of the old slate quarry at Llechwedd and learn about what it was like to work in the quarries, or you can take a trip behind a steam engine on the famous Ffestiniog Railway as the line twists and turns (there’s even a complete spiral) on the spectacular journey down to the coast at Porthmadog. You can even take the ‘big railway’ train and explore the Conwy Valley Line north to Llandudno. There are some lovely walks up into the hills at Tanygrisiau and it’s only a short car journey to the fabulous sandy beach at Black Rock near Porthmadog, the World Heritage Site of Harlech Castle, or the pretty village of Betws-y-Coed. Beach 12 miles. Shop 300 yards, pub 200 yards, restaurant 500 yards. Show more
