Please note There is a step to the patio and a large unfenced pond in the garden. This property has a security deposit of £150.\nSet on the edge of the village of Briston in gardens of almost two acres Drakes Cottage is close to all the best that North Norfolk has to offer. The cottage adjoins the owners’ traditional Norfolk farmhouse which dates from around 1625. The house had high status in that period having servants’ quarters in the upper storey and was originally thatched. Because of the size of its rooms and internal layout it is believed to have been built as a hostel for pilgrims journeying en route to the shrine at Walsingham many of whom will have stayed in Drakes Cottage itself. The owners have decorated and furnished the cottage imaginatively with vintage furniture found in local antique auctions and individual handmade items. The effect is a quirky mix of the old and new quality linens a well-equipped kitchen and a wood burner are all provided for your comfort. The gardens are wildlife friendly and the owners have counted over 50 species of visiting birds during the course of a year. Tawny owls make use of the nest boxes most years and their calls can often be heard close to the house at night. Pheasants and deer from the local estate often wander in and feed amongst the chickens in the orchard. The large pond in the garden – around ½ an acre in size – attracts waterfowl and has a resident family of moorhens.\nJust 3 miles from the historic Georgian town of Holt a short drive to the coast at Blakeney and 13 miles from Cromer there’s plenty to see and do. The property is centrally situated for visiting several National Trust houses in the area including Blickling Hall and Felbrigg Hall. The North Norfolk heritage railway and the wildlife reserves at Cley next the Sea and Pensthorpe are close by. Thursford with its steam museum and spectacular shows including their Christmas extravaganza is 3 miles away. The area is blessed with many quality independent restaurants and hostelries. Beach 8¼ miles. Shop 100 yards pub ¼ mile.\n" https://img.chooseacottage.co.uk/Property/607/840/607974.jpg CCCD

Fantastic stay at Drakes cottage, perfect for an escape for 2. The cottage is very well equipped and made for a very comfortable stay. The cottage itself along with the surrounding buildings and grounds are beautiful and so peaceful, ideal for catching up on some lost sleep whilst staying. In the local village the butchers/ greengrocers/ convenience store were a welcome find, selling fresh local food. Equally there were numerous local pubs around the area for eating out. Couldnt recommend Drakes cottage enough.

Really enjoyed our stay in the cottage. Belinda and Roger were very welcoming and ensured we were comfortable and enjoying our holiday at all times. It is a very well maintained and very clean cottage. Excellent location for visiting North Norfolk. There are a good selection of local shops within walking distance. Near to beautiful beaches and several National Trust properites. The garden at the cottage is lovely, beautiful to sit out in and enjoy many wild birds. Very grateful for the eggs from Belinda and Roger';s chickens. Would definitely recommend and look forward to staying there again.

Lovely place, lovely owners. EXCELLENT fittings and fixtures - top level cooker / shower / washing machine etc. Great to see the birds coming to the feeders every day . It would have been perfect if it hadn't been for the rain !! But that was nobody's fault. Thank you Drake's Cottage.

Parking a little tricky, particularly if you have two vehicles. Large farm building adjoining the property is not too beautiful. Internally absolutely fine, suited me perfectly. Hosts Roger and Belinda were lovely. Shared garden also lovely.

A lovely secluded cottage. Well equipped with everything being top quality. Very comfortable. Easy driving distance to Holt for tea rooms and gift shops as well as to the coast and several National Trust properties.

A spotlessly clean, well equipped and well kept property which I would not hesitate to recommend. It is in lovely surroundings and we found plenty to see and do within a 20 minute drive. The owners were very friendly and welcoming and we had a wonderful week at Drake's Cottage.

Thoroughly recommend Drakes Cottage for those looking for a quiet break. The north Norfolk coast and its amenities are a short drive away. The owners are on hand to provide assistance and solve problems and make any stay as smooth as possible.

A warm welcome awaits you at at Drakes Cottage with flowers and fresh free range eggs an added touch. Roger and Belinda are always at hand to ensure you have a comfortable stay. The attractive cottage (the 'photo does not do it justice on the information) is an ideal location to explore Norfolk or just relaxing at the cottage in the beautiful well kept garden. All in all - the cottage is immaculate, clean ,and well looked after - we enjoyed watching the chickens trotting across the garden and the birds of all different species feeding from the trees. Nice weather was an added bonus. We hope to return in the future.

Comfortable, clean and well appointed. Helpful hosts. A little too far from our favourite places.

A very quiet location, fairly central to the area of N. Norfolk so easy to reach places of interest Well presented and comfy One comment is that I had to keep dog on lead in garden and not let her wee on grass but it was not difficult and the reason was explained (female dog wee can spoil grass) Owners were helpful
