    > Amidst beautiful rolling countryside and farmland, set in the grounds of the owner’s farmhouse within a working farm, Drayton Farm Barns (PDDP, PDDQ & PDDR) have been skillfully converted from one large barn. Offering plenty of light and space, these beautifully presented barns have been tastefully furnished to a high specification. Henwood (PDDR) is an ‘upside down’ house, designed with the living area on the first floor to take advantage of the superb countryside views. They enjoy shared use of a large lawned garden, and direct access to miles of scenic walks in this wonderful part of Hampshire within the Meon Valley, with the river meandering through the farmland.
Just over a mile is the quaint thatched roof village of East Meon, which has shops, a church and two renowned pubs serving good food. West Meon (where Thomas Lord rests, founder of Lords cricket) is also close by with award-winning butchers and pub. Within easy reach are the glorious South Downs, Portsmouth with Nelsons Victory, The Mary Rose, waterside dining, designer shopping and ferry trips to the Isle of Wight, as well as Winchester Cathedral, Southampton with its extensive maritime history, the vast heathland walks and riding in The New Forest, historic Chichester with cathedral and festival theatre, beaches at the Witterings or Hayling Island, Watercress steam train, Jane Austen’s House, Gilbert White’s House, Birdworld and Marwell Zoo. London is about an hour by train from nearby Petersfield. Shops 1½ miles.

Our second visit. It did not disappoint. A convenient location to explore the South Downs with easy access to Winchester to the west and Petersfield and Chichester to the east.

Everything was first class we were so happy with the accommodation that we have booked to go back in the autumn. We are just hoping that the weather is better.

We only stayed a few nights and the twin bedroom was rather small for 2 adults, I wouldn't have wanted to stay for a week. It was more suitable for children!

Beautiful cottage. Lovely people. Shame it didn’t say steep stairs and difficult for disabled. But that didn’t dampen my enjoyment of the cottage.

Overall the cottage was comfortable, and had everything we needed. I felt the layout of the furniture could have been better in the lounge as dining table was in the corner of the lounge next to the tv. The soft furnishings and bedding were a bit dated. Hosts were very helpful and were there if we needed them without being obtrusive. Cottage did not have much of a garden but the surrounding countryside made up for this as in a lovely spot.

Excellent location; nice and peaceful; accommodation fairly clean; several cobwebs that should have been dealt with in the cleaning before occupancy; ensuite to double bedroom smelt of stale water because sealant around shower was missing in places; shower tray partially filled when showering due to hair down plug hole; bath in twin ensuite was extremely slow to fill and hair down that plug hole too; electrical socket behind bedside table was gaffer taped to the wall; had to move wheelie bins from under double bedroom window as the smell was horrendous, smelt like dead flesh therefore flies were in abundance; kitchen cupboards nearly all full of utensils so not a lot of space for food; some utensils not as clean as they could be; frying pan was a little rusty so unable to use; double room bed very comfortable; sofa and armchairs a bit low for us and not very comfortable; oven a bit grubby; plenty of storage space in bedroom; garden very pretty and well kept; the pigs were gorgeous; owners father apologised for bins under window, he washed the wheelie bin out after they were emptied by refuse collection, gaffer tape on socket, he explained it was difficult finding time to repair it due to lettings, also apologised for hair down plug holes very pleasant gentleman.

A beautifully located rural holiday cottage which is well worth the 5 star rating. Lots of attention to detail with many extras which are not usually provided. Exceeded our expectations. Highly recommended.
