Not all we were hoping for.

Driftwood is a well equipped, homely cottage and our three year old Cocker Spaniel loved the large, fully enclosed back garden. Inverfarigaig is quite a remote location, so go well equipped with supplies. The scenery is breathtaking and fairly short drives will take you to the most amazing walks. Foyers Falls is a must, the walk at Dores (and a visit to Dores Inn - the food is superb), St Augustus and the Black Isle. If you fancy venturing further afield, Plodda Falls (a spectacular 100 feet waterfall) and Glen Affric are truly wonderful. We definitely hope to return to Driftwood and would highly recommend it.

The best equipped self catering property that we have ever rented! The cottage is fairly remote with no WiFi and very spoarodic telephone signal... This was actually very refreshing and I believe contributed to a very peaceful holiday. Its location is great for exploring the Highlands and there are some beautiful walks right on your doorstep. The only negative was the single track General Wade's Military road which was full of potholes and a daily "taking your lives into your own hands" adventure as the locals travel at speed and drive quite aggressively. Our holiday became significantly more expensive when one of our cars was damaged during our stay. That said with the caveat of being prepared for the road/ driving conditions, I would definitely recommend Driftwood as an excellent holiday home and base for anyone wanting either a very active or very isolated break.

The cottage did not live up to owners description. There was no meet and greet, it was not very clean and was tired looking. The carpets, cushions and soft furnishings were badly stained as was the double duvet. No allowance was made for the fact we were staying for a two week period for change of bed linen and we specifically had to request it. The description location was incorrect and was not as described ie it stated Urquart Castle was 2 miles away but that would have been as the crow flies across the loch. Driving distance was more like 20 miles! Also the view to Loch Ness from the cottage was obscured by high scrubland. We had no mobile phone coverage at all and the nearest signal was at Foyers 10 mins away by car. In short the cottage could do with a complete deep clean and refurbishment.

The cottage was a fantastic base for us to explore the local area including Loch Ness, the closest pub is a 10 min drive and the closest supermarket is about a 20 min drive but the location and views out weigh any negativity that this may bring. We found the cottage to be exceptionally clean, the previous guests having had 2 dogs there, you wouldn't know.

An excellent cottage with all you need for a fabulous week away. You could ask for anything more. Views beautiful and plenty of walking. Fab garden which was very secure for dogs who absolutely loved it. If we were to go back to Loch Ness would definitely stay here again.

A great base for exploring the area. Driftwood was clean and comfortable. A lovely garden and views to Loch Ness. Very peaceful and relaxing. We had a couple of excellent meals at the Dores Inn. We would definitely recommend this to others and would stay here again if visiting Scotland.
