We had a great stay at The Dun Cow, it's extremely well equipped, spacious and in a good location for exploring County Durham and Teesdale etc.

We spent a perfect family weekend at the Dun Cow. The cottage is beautiful, tastefully decorated, very well laid out. A great enclosed safe garden for the dogs. Would love to return for another stay.

Excellent house. All the equipment in the kitchen you could ever need. Location good for exploring Duran and other surrounding area. Weather made it possible for us to enjoy the outside area every day with the hot tub and bbq.Cupcakes on arrival a bonus and very tasty.

I would highly recommend staying at the Dun Cow. The property is absolutely beautiful and the hot tub is fantastic to relax in and chill after a long day (or during the day!). Perfectly situated to explore Co Durham, there is lots to see and do in the area, and the owner, Andrew, is on hand to answer any questions about the property or the surrounding area. Would definitely use again.

Our party of 5 incl 3 older teenagers and a young cocker spaniel loved The Dun Cow. Andrew was really helpful, including a guided tour of the village to show me the best dog walks. We’ll equipped clean and spacious the cottage is lovely, and the hot tub was the perfect end to a day out and about. The village is lovely, and villagers friendly. The Cross Keys does excellent food, and staff were great. We’ve done a number of cottage holidays in The UK, this one has been the most enjoyable. We all agreed, we will be back.

A beautiful cottage fully equipped with everything you could need. We stayed a week and of particular note is the lovely hot tub outside, which the children loved! A very happy stay and will definitely be re-booking when we visit family again.

Fabulous cottage! We loved the garden area, it’s a great little sun trap. Hot tub makes a great addition to the property. Everything you need in a place. We went out to a couple of great places nearby to eat- The Pickled Parson in Sedgefield is lovely & also The Aviator Bistro does a great breakfast. There’s some nice walks nearby too, just up past the church to a lake is handy. Lovely touch leaving cupcakes in the kitchen for our arrival, they went down well! All round lovely place, highly recommended. Thank you :-)

A fabulous house which was very comfortable and extremely well equipped. The outdoor space was fantastic, the garden is a real suntrap and the outdoor lighting made it appealing throughout the day. The hot tub was very popular with the whole family! The village is quiet but there is a well stocked shop, pub and and a fantastic children's park all within a couple of minutes walk. The owner was very quick to respond to us. I would definitely recommend this house for a family get together and we hope to visit again.

As our youngest son is studying at Durham Uni we were looking for a dog friendly cottage reasonably close to Durham to celebrate some family birthdays and The Dun Cow was ideal. The cottage comfortably sleeps eight in three double and two single bedrooms and has a shower room and a huge bathroom. The kitchen is well appointed and the adjoining dining area will again comfortably seat eight. The lounge area is also very spacious consisting of two open plan rooms with plenty of seating. The cottage also has an enclosed rear garden with a seating area and BBQ.

We stayed here for 4 nights in February and I couldn’t rate the accommodation highly enough. The cottage is immaculate, clean and maintained to a high standard. I have stayed in a few holiday letting over the years and there’s usually always something that lets a place down but there definitely wasn’t anything here at all! The kitchen is extremely well equipped, lots of clean towels and even delicious fresh cakes left on the cake stand for our arrival! It was warm, cozy and inviting for our arrival. Lots to do in the surrounding areas too. We would definitely stay here again, we’ve heard the garden is a sun trap in the summer so a summer stay next time sounds perfect!

We had stayed at the Dun Cow in April for my 70th birthday celebrations. On the morning of departure my daughter said 'wouldnt it be lovely to be here for Christmas`. We all agreed and booked it immediately we got home. The owners had put up a tree and decorations and left some delicious cup cakes. It was a perfect venue for Me, my husband,! My daughter and her husband and my son and his wife and his 2 children (19 & 15). I would definitely recommend it. As an aside it cost me a lot of money because so loved the big range cooker that I've bought one - delivered today!

A lovely spacious, clean and well equipped cottage. The bathroom was large with plenty of hot water and lovely towels. The bedrooms were comfy but one of the mattresses needs replacing. The village is quiet and not a lot to do there, but is a great base to travel to other areas. We had a nice day in Durham and Whitby. We will recommend this cottage.
