Set amongst some of Scotland’s most dramatic and rugged scenery Applecross nestles between mountains and sea and can be approached over Britain’s highest road pass The Bealach Na Ba. Wester Ross home to the eagle and pine marten with seals often seen in the many coastal inlets and stags roaming on the heather clad hills.     Spent 3 nights in the cottage in February and would definitely return and recommend it to friends. The house is very warm and cosy, so would be great even in the middle of a Scottish winter! The kitchen is well stocked with pots & pans, cutlery etc., and great for cooking full meals. Just remember to bring everything with you, though. There is a small shop 2 minutes away but it isn't always open in the winter months (understandably), so you could be stuck if you arrived without supplies (there is salt & pepper plus tea & coffee in the house, but nothing else). The Applecross Inn is only a 25 minute walk, though, so no need to starve! Minor criticism of the house- the carpets and sofas are pretty old, dated and worn; the armchairs are marked through years of use and there is a general slight aroma of "Old Folks Home" about the place, coming from the carpets, I think. And a carpet in the bathroom is inexcusable- you can guess what aroma comes off that. But although that sounds harsh, it wouldn't actually put me off returning as the house is overall very clean and comfortable, the location unbeatable and the views just stunning. Just needs a wee bit of an update...

    I have grown up visiting family in applecross and thoroughly enjoyed being back, Duncaan is close to everything and has fantastic views. The next door neighbours were lovely and we foubd our stay very comfortable
