The village is one of the prettiest in Yorkshire with its stone cottages and village green where every Sunday in the summer months a band performs on the green in the bandstand. A stream meanders through the village where the duck pond has lots of wildlife to see. The village has everything you need with a local butcher bakers shop and a couple of pubs all within five minutes walk from the cottage.\nEaster Cottage is just 1½ miles from Dalby Forest and a complimentary Discovery Pass for 4 people and free parking for 1 car is included in your stay. Here there are 683 miles of cycle trails from gentle family routes to serious down hilling for adrenaline seekers. Dalby Forest also hosts lots of other attractions such as Go Ape special events for children like fungal forays and bug hunts and for the adults outdoor concerts in the summer. If you spent a few days in the forest with different activities each day the whole area would still not be covered. The market town of Pickering lies just 2½ miles from the village of Thornton with its famous station carrying passengers all the way to Whitby on its celebrated steam trains run by the North Yorkshire Moors Railway. Passing through the North Yorkshire Moors you can alight and discover the village of Goathland made famous in the TV series Heartbeat as Aidensfield. Pickering hosts the WWII war weekend every year when the town becomes seeped in a bygone age residents and visitors are dressed in 1940’s clothing and Glen Millers music gets everyone in the mood.\nEaster Cottage is ideally located for easy access to the medieval city of York with its history museums minster and shopping and is less than 45 minutes by car or if you prefer the regular “Coastliner” bus this excellent bus service runs regularly throughout the week. Also within easy reach is the traditional seaside town of Scarborough on the East Coast just 15 miles from the cottage. Filey is less than 20 miles drive with its traditional “cobble” on the sea front. You can also take a trip to the RSPB Cliffs at Bempton where Puffins abound in their natural habitat possibly taking in Bridlington at the same time. Dogs and children will be well catered for with areas of beaches suitable for everyone. Castle Howard the superb 18th century stately home set in over 10000 acres of estate land is just 16 miles away with breathtaking landscaped grounds garden centre excellent farm shop and butcher selling locally grown meat and vegetables woodland and lakeside walks and an adventure playground.\nAfter a hard days cycling in Dalby Forest walking along the beach on the east coast or sightseeing and shopping in York Easter Cottage will envelope you with the warmth of two wood burners beams and great facilities for the whole family. Very good accommodation, slight problem with parking. Not happy that heating is controlled remotely by owner, not easy to text them through night when cold.

A quaint rather lovely Cottage with the added warmly touch of a log burner/fire, which through our winter months stay - was such a delight. 'Easter Cottage' itself is surprisingly spacious, considering its a 2 bedroom, yet with a touch of modern, as each bedroom comes with its own en suite. (to add: this is definitely a Cottage, many owners band this label around far to easily, how many times we've got to our destination to find its merely a modern type property - and not a Cottage as advertised, grr!! So yes, this is without doubt a (lovely) Cottage) Complimented at the back of the property by a full length kitchen, that has all your cooking needs, and an adjoining little dinning area, that then leads on to their back yard garden/area/space, and my what a fab surprise this was, a superb bonus for when staying in the summer months! Picture coming back from a day out and about, the sun is belting, as its a glorious evening, out with the barbecue and time to enjoy your own little oasis, as this is a great personal space, of which, we all agreed we'd definitely return in the summer months - just for this :-D The Cottage is literally 5 minutes from the main Street/Square (apologies I've forgotten the name) 2 pubs, several other shops that include a chemist, tea rooms, bike shop, butchers, a store for all your needs, ah, and its always worth a look at the Car Sales Auctions?, as they constantly have a fantastic selection of cars from all decades - this is definitely worth a look. Always worthy of a mention, is Thornton Le Dale's famous 'The Chocolate Factory' although, be prepared to empty all your coffers, as it sure is expensive, yet well worth the luxury, as they ALL taste scrumptious, chocolate that the taste will bring you back for more. We've been coming to Yorkshire for many a year, and we always make time for Thornton Le Dale, and not just for the Chocolate, lol. We usually book a table for Sunday lunch, as both The Buck & The New Inn? Pubs offer excellent meals at competitive prices, and always so very (dog) friendly. A shout out for the local Chemist (Coop?) as all staff, including the Pharmacist, were all fantastic, genuinely very friendly, worth of a mention for the help that they give! Thornton Le Dale is one of those special places, we have so many fab memories of visiting through the years, it's such a beautiful area to stay as a base, with the locals so genuinely friendly. Located on the southern fringes of the North York Moors National Park, then visit what all of Yorkshire has to offer, as all main roads, e.g A170, will get you where you need to go and in no time at all. Scarborough is merely a half hour drive from the Cottage, so if you fancy the Seaside, arcades and scrumptious fish & chips. Then there's Whitby which is about a similar drive. Yes, this is a great starting point, with Easter Cottage definitely worth considering - as it sure ticks all the right boxes.

Lovely, spotlessly clean cottage. Easy access to many local towns and places of interest. However, the cottage is on the main road through the village and it's a very busy road, at all times of the day and night. The road is not well lit, there are no crossings, the cottage doesn't have it's own parking, so crossing over the road can be really quite dangerous.

Very nice cottage but situated on the very busy A170 road so a lot of cars and trucks going past. Car parking is on the main road so don't expect to park next to cottage. But a lovely quaint cottage.

We had the most wonderful time at Easter Cottage in the beautiful town of Thornton-le-Dale. The cottage is very cozy and comfortable and Jude and Steve take great pride in making sure that their guests are well situated. We were greeted with some homemade squares and beautiful flowers and Jude checked in often to make sure we had everything we needed. The town is perfect for exploring the beautiful moors, coasts, villages and heritage sites of gorgeous Yorkshire. We could not recommend highly enough.

We had a lovely time at Easter Cottage. Perfectly placed for exploring Yorkshire (and there is always lots to do) and the little village of Thornton Le Dale is lovely. The cottage itself was clean and well set out. We had a lovely 2 weeks and would recommend it. The snug is a really lovely idea and perfect for those quiet moments to enjoy with a book and cup of tea.

Loved the cottage, beautiful location, amazing holiday and nice and quiet aside from the main road outside. But the road wasnt a big issue at all just crossing it can be a challenge when busy. Low ceilings so luckily enough we are short ppl no problem for us but can see it being an issue for others. Milk in the fridge and dog bowls, towels and treats provided with a welcome card. Only thing missing was a couple of loungers in the garden and sauces in the kitchen cupboards. Will definitely return!
