Lovely little cottage! Gorgeous views all around ! Very peaceful. Great place to recharge the batteries! Bed comfortable. Kitchen area had everything we needed including a decent sized fridge. Bathroom could do with a better shower & heater.

What a understated cottage, everything you could want , 360 degrees panoramic views from all windows , cosy with a wood burning stove , very relaxing if you want to get away from it all this cottage is for you , restful and peaceful no noise. This stunning cottage is set within the grounds of the big house ,the owners are very nice and the groundsman ,gardener was charming and helpful . Stunning walks and across the river are Lacey's Caves which is worth a walk through the woods stunning . We have booked to go back next summer already ,i cant wait to go back there is so much to see . Book early because once you have been you will want to return . This is the best cottage we have every stayed in great value for money ,stunning location a credit to the owners.

An excellent cottage. Very comfortable and well equipped. The views are spectacular, and location ideal for a relaxing break. The owner was very helpful and an avid fisherman as I am. I would recommend the cottage to anyone who wants a comfortable and cosy location.

We had a lovely week in The Lodge. The owners are really kind. The interior is well appointed. The situation is excellent.

Unfortunately the lodge smelt damp when we arrived and on returning in the evenings. There were also fly traps on most Windows which was not very nice so see on our arrival. Overall we made the most of it and enjoyed the peace and quiet it provided us. Lovely to sit out with a glass of wine. Parking is excellent. Easy access to lots of interesting areas. Guide leaflets were a great help. Local garden centre cafe was a treat, great afternoon tea. The oven knobs have no numbers on the dials so Its all guess work and the grill didn't work, which was shame. The views were amazing, log fire so warming and cosy on an evening and it helped us thoroughly enjoy our time there. Bed comfortable and we slept well. Cosy quilt so warm. Bathroom heated towel rail a nice touch. Lovely to talk instead of googling, but the Internet was great when we needed it. Some amazing walks around and about and for those who like running, I used the private road from the cottage to the main road to do my 3 miles. No pegs to hang out washing. Some small minor touches that would help. A refurb and charging extra next year would be an idea, as worth it.

We had read about the problem with flies but thought it is in the country, of course there would be flies. But we arrived back one evening and the cottage was full of them. There were actually less flies out in the garden. The next day we bought a lot of fly paper and this worked. So I would recommend bringing some with you. We left some there for the next visitors. The cottage itself is very quaint and down a little lane. We were blessed with beautiful weather and visited Ullswater Lake for a swim and a run. We went into Appleby which is a pretty town.
