Guests can enjoy the facilities at the hotel with restaurant and bar meals available an 18-hole golf course with discounted rates and a clubhouse where entertainment is often provided. Ramble in the Forest of Dean an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty with its many beautiful walks ponds and picnic areas. There is an abundance of wildlife and fabulous pathways for cycling. Symonds Yat Rock is a great place for climbing and is also famous for its nesting peregrine falcons with stunning views along the Wye Valley. Fishing riding and canoeing are widely available. Local attractions include Go Ape high wire adventure Puzzlewood the Dean Forest Steam Railway Sculpture Trail and Clearwell Caves. There are many places of historical interest to be found including castles and museums. Ross-on-Wye Chepstow and Monmouth are all within easy driving distance. The cathedral city of Gloucester and Hereford Cathedral with its famous Mappa Mundi and chained library are both approximately 20 miles away.     Collapsed floor in the kitchen, freezer unusable because it needed defrosting, inaccurate inventory for kitchen. Large hole in lounge wall. Toilets difficult to flush. It needs all these things being seeing to plus attention to decoration and it will become acceptable for holiday lets.

    Edenwall House has plenty of room for four. There is ample parking. The fenced garden could be a plus for any family with young children, and children may enjoy watching rabbits feeding on the grass just ouside the garden. The property is well located for touring the Forest of Dean and the surrounding area - and these are really worth visiting! For self caterers, supermarkets are about half a mile a way, chip shops and other take-aways are not much further, and there are plenty of pubs and eateries (including the Bells Hotel / Golf Club complex) within easy reach. The cottage itself is essentially well laid out. Both bedrooms have en suite, with a third toilet downstairs. The three Edenwall properties are run by the Bell's Hotel, and we had some excellent service and help from their reception staff. The bit of a downside was a lack of attention to detailed maintenance. The TV aerial was a bit on and off, though we think we fixed that problem ourselves. Additionally, both fridge and freezer badly needed defrosting, we asked for (and, to the hotel's credit, we received) a new microwave cooker, some drawers fronts were falling off, cupboard hinges had come unscrewed, there was a shortage of some crockery and cutlery items, and so on. That said, these are minor niggles, and nothing that one good day's input from the landlord couldn't fix. Overall, we found the property to be good enough, and excellently located.
