It’s a really lovely place to stay. Lovely comfy beds and spacious living rooms, good sized dining table, good showers, copious fridge, good secure parking. (Pity we couldn’t find the TV remote for a couple of days, it was wedged under the reclining chair mechanism).

We loved our stay, very comfy and roomy house. Shame about the noise from the road and car park either side of the house.

On on positive note the location of the property is excellent to explore Richmond even though it is situated between a busy road and a car park. The gated courtyard with parking and outside seating were much appreciated. I booked the house as a family weekend away and included my elderly parents, aged 85 and 86. On arrival, I was dismayed to find that access to the kitchen and downstairs shower room were both by 3 steps with no handrails. Upstairs two of the bedrooms and the bathroom were also down steps with no handrail. I watched my mother and father struggle for four days. On reasearching the property at no stage were the inside steps mentioned. Steps into the house were documented but nothing inside. I would never have booked this property if I had been provided with, surely, relevant information about the layout.

Although the house is near the centre of town and close to amenities, we were woken early because of traffic as it is on a busy main road. The house sleeps seven or eight but there are only 6 chairs outside so on a sunny day we couldn't all sit outside. There were not even 7 side plates or cereal bowls. Only a small thing but annoying. Likewise that there is no provision for recycling and we had to take it to the far end of the car park at the back of the property and put it in the communal recycling bins ourselves. Overall disappointing.

Location, off street parking and enclosed garden for the dog was absolutely fab :) The space of the cottage works well however, we were really disappointed generally - especially considering the amount of money charged. If you are considering staying with elderly guests (as we did) then this is a no for you. It should come with a notice that there are A LOT of stairs in the cottage, uneven floors and extremely heavy and cumbersome doors - especially to the upstairs bathroom. The cottage was not clean when we arrived and i'm not picky - but it really was sub-standard in terms of a general level of cleanliness. We had lightbulbs out, sockets off walls, locks that didn't work, grime on skirting boards and furniture, cobwebs, dust..... and don't get me started on the kitchen floor!!!! The welcome pack also was not that welcoming - existing of tea bags and sachets of coffee and sugar - with no milk - so we couldn't even have a cuppa before our shopping arrived, considering it was nearly a thousand pounds for the week this is pretty poor!! I could go on.....we will not be visiting again.

Location was great. Loved the layout of the house and was perfect for the eight of us to stay for the weekend. Would love to go back and see the bits of Richmond we missed this time!

We had a fabulous time at Ellerton house. We were two families of 4 and the house was plenty big enough. It’s decorated beautifully, there were lovely fires to chill in front of. We cooked full Sunday dinner with no problems of kitchen equipment. The caretaker popped to check we were ok. The guest book is filled with handy hints and tips. The courtyard is private and perfect if u have a dog which we did. You are literally 2 mins into Richmond centre. We loved it and will be back for sure.
