Absolutely the best cottage we have stayed in (and we have been in quite a few)! Everything you could need for your holiday is supplied - kitchen equipment, cleaning materials, local information, games, books etc. There was even a supply of charcoal for the BBQ, which in my experience is a first. A hamper full of quality goodies was waiting for us, as well as milk in the fridge. Although the cottage is 18th century and full of character the decor is contemporary and reflects the owners good taste. Beds are extremely comfortable and the supply of toiletries was a lovely touch. Askrigg is a good central location for visiting the Dales and the village itself has 3 great pubs. Tuesday's pie night at the Kings Arms should not be missed. A fish and chip van visits the village on Wednesday teatime. Thank you Shirley and Andrew for your hospitality and kindness.

Elm Rise is a beautiful cottage right in the heart of Askrigg, with a fabulous view from each bedroom window. Parking space in front then you are welcomed by a lovely private patio with seating for every part of the day to follow the sun! Every room is lovely and equipped with everything you might need and more. The lounge is very cosy with large TV on the wall with lots of games and DVD's. Each bedroom has it's own TV and a Play Station in the twin room. Comfortable beds with quality cotton bedding. Lovely bathroom and ensuite. Shirley & Andrew do go the extra mile with the treats they leave ~ we go to a lot of cottages but the welcome pack in Elm Rise beats all the others, there are also baskets of toiletries upstairs in case you do happen to forget something plus all the usual soap and shower gel. We will rebook this cottage.

My wife and I had a fabulous week whilst staying at Elm Rise. We have stayed at several cottages in the Yorkshire Dales over recent years, all were excellent but Elm Rise exceeded our expectations. The owners are very welcoming and thoughtful, providing a very clean, well equipped and well appointed property. We could not fault the cottage, it really made our holiday special and certainly intend to visit again.

One of the best self catering cottages we have ever stayed in. Very comfortable home from home environment. Well situated on Askrigg main street but quiet. It has a lovely outside seating area with loads of seats/tables etc.

Great place to stay - Kendal is only 1 hr away, and is well worth a visit. The 3 pubs in the small village are all worth a visit.

Elm rise is an outstanding cottage. Spotlessly clean & beautifully appointed. There is nothing that has not been thought of. The generosity of the owners second to none. The amenities in the village are what you would expect with some hidden gems. Humble pie is a great place. Lovely food & coffee. The village shop stocks everything. Walks from the doorstep, everything just perfect. A fantastic cottage for a family. We were 3 generations & it was just great. Our second visit here & it won’t be the last.
