An idyllic cottage in a lovely part of the world. As we arrived late, the welcome hamper was indeed... welcome. We visited in late December, so the weather was cold. However, the cottage was always warm, and the log-burner made it all the more romantically cosy; our two elderly dachshunds enjoyed curling up in front of it. There is a very steep hill up to the cottage from Rothbury but everything was easily accessed. Rothbury itself had all the immensities you could want, a fantastic butcher and baker and a great real ale bar 'Narrow Nicks.' Being close to other towns, the coast and Lindisfarne, we enjoyed some great days out. All in all, we had a fantastic honeymoon, made extra special by the comfortable accommodation. Would recommend Fairground Cottage unreservedly.

A beautiful cottage in a lovely friendly village location. Carol most certainly goes the extra mile to make you feel welcome and comfortable. We would certainly recommend a visit, with or without pets!

Fairground Cottage is a great base for discovering Northumberland. Carol the Owner has thought of everything it was well equipped, spacious, comfortable and Welcoming. The welcoming pack was a nice touch. The back garden is safe and secure for dogs. A really nice place to stay we cannot recommend it enough.

fairground cottage is comfortable and well equipped with everything you could need.Lovely views and a short walk down into Rothbury where there are good shops and pubs. I have stayed there before and would do so again. Lots of good walks from the doorstep and within easy reach of the coast or longer walks in the .The owner is very helpful. I like it very much.

We had a good week at fairground cottage ,the cottage was clean ,comfortable and very welcoming .A very nice welcome pack ,good enclosed garden for our dog, great views,it was on a quite steep hill so would say a car was essential. Rothbury was very quaint ,plenty of shops ,the places were we ate were not the best, especially the fish and chip shop the most expensive and worst fish and chips ever! Northumberland itself was wonderful and the people very friendly

Having been warmly welcomed with gifts of cake, eggs and flowers from the lovely owner, we knew our stay would be very enjoyable. As for the house, this cottage may look small from the outside but inside it is spacious but also cosy. The living room is very inviting and the kitchen is the epitome of a cottage kitchen. All the facilities are there and easy to use. The bedrooms are perfect and have the added bonus of the sun rising in the morning. The bathroom is particularly nice and the shower extremely efficient. Above all though, the house is perfect for dog owners. Finally, the views from the cottage are amazing. As for The location, Rothbury is such a quaint place, offering four, very welcoming and dog friendly pubs. The shops are just right and the people so friendly. There are so many wonderful walks nearby that you are spoilt for choice. A must is the nearby Cragside, so worth a visit. Overall, I would strongly recommend staying at this cottage, particularly if you are a couple and have a dog. It is absolutely lovely.
