We had a good week at fairground cottage ,the cottage was clean ,comfortable and very welcoming .A very nice welcome pack ,good enclosed garden for our dog, great views,it was on a quite steep hill so would say a car was essential. Rothbury was very quaint ,plenty of shops ,the places were we ate were not the best, especially the fish and chip shop the most expensive and worst fish and chips ever! Northumberland itself was wonderful and the people very friendly

Having been warmly welcomed with gifts of cake, eggs and flowers from the lovely owner, we knew our stay would be very enjoyable. As for the house, this cottage may look small from the outside but inside it is spacious but also cosy. The living room is very inviting and the kitchen is the epitome of a cottage kitchen. All the facilities are there and easy to use. The bedrooms are perfect and have the added bonus of the sun rising in the morning. The bathroom is particularly nice and the shower extremely efficient. Above all though, the house is perfect for dog owners. Finally, the views from the cottage are amazing. As for The location, Rothbury is such a quaint place, offering four, very welcoming and dog friendly pubs. The shops are just right and the people so friendly. There are so many wonderful walks nearby that you are spoilt for choice. A must is the nearby Cragside, so worth a visit. Overall, I would strongly recommend staying at this cottage, particularly if you are a couple and have a dog. It is absolutely lovely.

Very nice place to stay for a week. The cottage is situated on a quiet residential road above Rothbury, with the town centre in easy walking distance, with a choice of at least three paths to take. All involve some gradient, but no problem for anyone with reasonable fitness. Parking is easy on the road right outside the front garden. The cottage is nice and roomy for two people, with a good sized living room, and large kitchen with full sized dining table, and well equipped with good quality items throughout. Lovely views over the Simonside hills from the living room and bedroom. There is a nice back garden too, with BBQ available, though we didn't quite have the weather to make the most of it unfortunately. The owner, Carol was lovely to deal with, and it was a really nice surprise to find a welcome pack of essentials and goodies in the kitchen when we arrived ! It was also great to have plenty of logs, kindling and firelighters supplied for the log burner. Though we did find on using it on a windy evening that some smoke was wafting into the room when we opened the door to add a log. This was probably some downdraught from the chimney due to the wind. We noticed some neighbouring properties had cowls over their chimney pots. One other minor niggle was that there was no electrical socket by the dressing table in the bedroom, though plenty of sockets otherwise. Rothbury is a lovely little town in a good location for visiting many of Northumberland's attractions, not least its own Cragside. On the whole we very much enjoyed our stay at Fairground Cottage, and would definitely stay again :)

Excellent weeks stay at Fairground Cottage, fab welcome pack including, milk, eggs, cake, wine and flowers very much appreciated. Also super dog friendly with treats, bowls, toys and towels. The garden fully enclosed, the neighbours very friendly. All needs catered for. Recommend the beer garden in Three Wheat Heads in Thropton for dogs. Had some good meals in the Turks Head and recommend the bakery. Needed to get away from the rat race to relax and unwind and this cottage provided this. Carol was very supportive before and after the holiday going as far as to text me the name of some of the plants in the garden I took a shining to. Thank you very much keep doing what your doing you have got it right x

Fantastic cosy cottage, Carol the owner is a lovely helpful lady. Nothing is too much trouble. Also a lovely little welcome pack of goodies when we arrived also had the log burning fire going for us on our arrival... Perfect. We stayed in the winter time but the back garden is fabulous. Would be wonderful in the summer.
